3 payg topup time scale

Hi wondering if anyone can help I am looking to put my mother on a 3 payg sim but she only makes very few calls a month, so if I top up say £10 will it last till her credit runs out or is there a time scale that needs it to be topped up every so often

There is no requirement for top up, as long as the phone is actively used once every 6 months.

Just a reminder that the 3 network requires a 3G phone. Hopefully your mothers phone has that functionality.
