So sad about Robin Williams strange how on paper you seem to have everything, but he must have felt he had nothing x
Depression is an insidious illness; I know, I've suffered it most of my life, and like Hester's DH, I tend to push people away, retreat into myself and "lick my wounds" in private.I think people who've never experienced it can't, with the best will in the world, fully understand; and the "what has he/she got to be depressed about?" attitude one often meets is most unhelpful - you can know, logically, that you have a decent standard of living, no debts, and a lovely DH, et cetera et cetera, but still you can't stop the Black Dog from snapping and snarling at you; and on a really bad day, the only way to survive is literally an hour at a time.
Sorry, that wasn't meant to be a rant, but as you may gather it's a topic I feel strongly about.

Whilst a lot of Robin Williams' films weren't to my personal taste, I do recognise that he was an extremely talented man, and it's very sad that he should have felt the need to leave the world that way.

    Sleep well, Robin.
LW - when is Mr LW's op? I hope you are both ok x
Thank you, we're managing - his op was last Tuesday, he's now convalescing at home - hence my extremely sporadic posting! It seems to have gone well; he had a few side effects, presumably from the anaesthetic, but they seem to be subsiding, thankfully. He has an appointment to see the nurse for a "wound check" this afternoon, so I have to drive him to the horse-piddle (he's not allowed to drive yet) - so it's an easy dins for us tonight, tagliatelle with veggie hot dogs and tinned toms, and I've made cherry crumble for dessert.

Thankfully Jessie 'Doodle as I call her is a very easy dog to look after, and has settled in beautifully. Three weeks is the longest I've ever had a canine guest for, so I'm really pleased she seems to be so happy here.:o
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

    Afternoon Al

Well, the summer is over - I'm back at school. The whole place is a disaster, a new heating system is being installed and the mess is amazing. Dust and workmen everywhere, 6 weeks is obviously not long enough, there are holes in walls and ceilings but they promise that the children will be safe when they return on Thursday. The worse thing is that they haven't run the pipes through to the classrooms yet! Typical.

LW - Pleased to hear that Mr LW is recovering, it sounds like you enjoy having Jessie to stay, if I had a dog I would like you to look after it.
DG - I have been buying the ham offcuts from Ald! too, you just have to check the packs as some of them look a little fatty. The meat itself is lovely, usually good thick slices.
    Happy Anniversary snoozer.
Julie - Congratulations on the weight loss.
Mrs MH - The hardest part must have been asking for help with DS, hope things improve soon.
Sorry, my mind has now gone blank so hugs to those in need.

Chicken something for tea, DD not in till 8 so will have to keep busy so I don't start eating rubbish.

Washing on the airers as it has rained all day again. Think I may go up and re-paint the wall that the central heating guys made a mess of, wouldn't mind but I had decorated that room, the only one I have managed to do!

    Take care. XX

I rang the Dr surgery to see if they had my blood test back, and they said they have and my CA125 is raised. I didn't ask for the figure as I don't want to know. The receptionist said they have sent the letter off to the gynaecology unit at the hospital.

I know it doesn't necessarily mean the worst but I am still getting myself in a state. I've rung DH and asked him to come home ASAP as I really need a hug.

Didn't want to read and run...just keep taking deep breathes and try to think calmly. You're right, it may not mean the worst so hold onto that. Not easy.

    My thoughts are with you.

    Thank you Gers.
When DH came home he said to call the Drs again so I did and requested a Dr call me to discuss the results. Luckily a really nice Dr who was kind to me during my mums illness rang. She said that it can be raised by other factors and she understood totally my getting stressed out what with mums medical history and me having bouts of depression.
She said she will write again if I don't hear within the week - not because it's "urgent" in a bad way, but because she knows I will be getting in a state while waiting. She said it could be endometreitis (not sure on spelling) or other things and try to be calm, even though that is hard.
I'm trying to keep busy but keep having waves of tiredness. When I rest though I begin thinking and getting myself in knots. Times like this I wish I was still on my antidepressants. DH gets all assertive and bossy trying to snap me out of it but as some of you know that doesn't work with depression. I keep trying to think what mum would be saying right now to keep me calm if she was still alive. I miss her terribly still.

Oh dandy I am feeling for you. I am sure your mum would be giving good advice, it's ok to still miss her.

    Big hugs. XX
  • Thinking of you, dandy-candy. I miss my mum terribly at times when I'm ill or upset. Big hugs.

I've been affected by the news of Robin Williams' suicide too - a relatively good friend posted on FB about how disgustingly selfish it is to commit suicide. Do people not realise the depths of despair which would drive someone to kill themselves? There's been times I've believed that my family would be better off without me, and although I'm fine now I have a lot of compassion for people in despair, not condemnation of them for being 'selfish'.

    Evening all,

Had a fab day with DD. Camden Market was brilliant and not too busy. Had a nosey around Covent Garden too, I do like it there :)
Was so nice to see DD in the flesh and sit and have coffee and a chat.

Came home to a Chorizo and Noodle stir fry made by DH :)
