Morning everyone,
Hugs to Molly, Lily, Hilstep, JuliaP and LW and to anyone else who needs one.
MrsMH Lots of hugs for you too.
Tru Your shed sounds like my kitchen cupboards, I am constantly sorting them out and they are constantly a mess!
Gers I drove to Walsall to see my parents yesterday and I was surprised at how quiet the roads were, I drove home during the evening rush hour.
I have come back from my parents' allotment with loads of vegetables so I will spend much of today preparing them for the freezer where they can join the 5lbs of blackberries that I picked on saturday. It is such a good year for blackberries, the area where I pick is absolutely bursting with them, my picking barely scratched the surface. I can not understand why I never see anyone else picking them but I often see people buying them in the local shops!
Right, better get DS up for work.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -

Morning all.
So sad to hear about Robin Williams. So sad to hear the man who made so many people happy was such a tortured soul in real life.
Raining cats and dogs here but I've emersed myself in some `light' reading. 3 A Game Of Thrones books by George R Martin. I'm missing my fix.
Mrsmortenharket, still sending you hugs. Your little one was given to you for a reason don't you forget it!
Lovely to see returners to the thread popping in occasionally. Its nice to you know your still here. Would be nice to see lurkers pop in to say hello too.
Right, need to get on.
Onwards and forwards,
Have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hi everyone,
I've been missing again due to a busy weekend with visitors and then anniversary yesterday.
Mind you we nearly didn't get to 35 years and one day - I got no card, no flowers, no present and he hadn't booked the restaurant I had been telling him I wanted to go to, or brought any decent clothes or shoes so we couldn't go there anyway. We don't usually make a huge deal of anniversaries so he probably thought it wouldn't be a problem but I had made it clear that I thought 35 years was a milestone to be celebrated so I was a tad upset. He was than upset that I was upset but too late - men.
Anyway, today will be washing 5 loads of bedding and lots of towels and packing because we need to leave early tomorrow so I'd better get on.
Have a good day.0 -
Oh Snoozer how rotten! Men don't seem to realise how important these special days are.
On our anniversary this year (16 years) DH hadn't got me anything and pulled the old "I was going to get you something later" routine. Seeing as he had taken the day off so we could go to a motorbike show (oh joy....) with tickets I had paid for, I just gave him a frosty silent stare and ate my cereals quietly. He got the message and said "erm, I'll be back in a mo" then shot off to M&S and came back with flowers, chocs and a teddy! Undoubtly he didn't want me sulking and ignoring him all day....0 -
Morning all,
I agree that RW seemed very troubled at times, very sad.Hope he's at peace now.
DH Auntie's funeral yesterday which went off as well as it could.DHs cousins made it as a celebration of her life rather than a sad occasion ,although of course there were some sad moments as she was a lovely lady,as was her sister my late MIL :A Really they were the glue that held the wider family together and I don't think we'll see as much of the cousins now, although one of the cousins sons(born on the same day as DS2) has suggested we all meet up before Christmas which was nice.
Molly-hope you are doing ok after your op xx
Julia Penguin- what a difficult time you've both had, hope better times are ahead.
LW- hope you and Dh are ok.
Mrs MH- hugs.
Still not heard of any more progress on the house we are buying
Lyla pup is bouncing off the walls now,she can only go for short walks till her stitches come out after being spayed and its hard keeping her from being too bouncy  She came back from the vets last week with the most enormous head collar on,but kept banging into things, not as much space in this house we're renting so I took it off and luckily she's not tried to get at her stitches.
Right,I need a good tidy up! Hope you all have a good day xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Thanks for the lovely welcome back :-)
I'm struggling to get through the last few days at work - I teach at a college for international students, and they have all now finished and gone - back home for a holiday then back here to various UK universities. I've done all the marking and packed up all the papers to take to the exam board on Thursday, and now I'm just sat about trying to look busy. It's so horrible without the students! I normally look forward to work every day, but it's so boring now and I'm way too tired to start planning for September - I'll start on that when I get back. I've only got one week in Scotland but then I've another week at home - bliss!
I've brought my lunch again and I'm going to have a walk around the city centre at lunchtime - I'm on a 'walk an extra 1000 miles in a year' challenge so need to do 2.7 miles a day. I'm trying to do more than that so that if I'm not well or the weather is horrible I don't fall behind. To and from work adds up to 2.6 if I go the quickest route, but there's a nice long way round that adds up to 3.2 so I try to do that if I can. I listen to audiobooks so mainly really enjoy my walks - I'm only on day 12 but I'm up to 58 miles already :j
On a less positive note, I forgot to take anything out of the freezer for tea, and DH is out :mad:0 -
Morning all
Hubby has been fed & dropped at work with a packed lunch, DGD has been collected & is playing a game involving some small figures & some scraps of fabric.
Y'day I cleaned the oven & the fridge, today I've made a huge batch of ready meals for hubby & I've put a bottle of cleaner through the DW & next I'll put the WM on a hot wash with washing soda in.
Waves to JuliaPenguin, nice to see you back, sorry to hear things have been difficult for you.
Molly, take care of yourself. You need to put yourself first.
LW, I hope Jessie is still keeping you company.
Mrs MH, I hope you are having a better day.
Good advice, re Robin Williams & depression, my hubby suffers from depression due to PTSD, he is very difficult to be around when he is suffering & pushes people away.
DGD & I are now going to make pompoms & make cakes for hubby & his work colleagues. I also have a big tub of crafty 'stuff' sequins, pipecleaners etc when she get bored.
I am taking her home tomorrow around lunchtime, I'm working on Thursday 9:30 'till 5ish & looking after the twins, who are now almost 3 months, on Friday from 10 'til 6 or 7!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning All
In the car on our way home heading North on the M1, just passing 21a, so  to anyone we are passing.
It has been a nice break, but ready for home, not looking forward to the 3 weeks worth of washing, hoping for some fine weather to get it dry.
OS wise, we did some shopping yesterday, so I don't need to fly out today. Have you spotted the Aldi Ham off-cuts? 400g for £1.65, and if you pick carefully they are almost full slices. They sometimes have smoked and sometimes just the ordinary ham, but it is very good value. I also like their Sparkling Rose, it's only a low % alcohol, but it does upset like wine is doing these days and a very summery drink, at the moment reduced to £1.99. I have been cooking while out and about, though we have had loads of salad with hot and cold meats, and jacket potatoes, maybe time for some Oven Chips tonight. I must try doing these from scratch instead of buying them. But have to watch fat content for DH.
(((Hugs)))), Spoons, Positive Vibes, LW, HS, MOLLY, MRS MH and all these who'd like them. Take care everyone. DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Just thought I would pop back and show off:o
Lost another 3.5 lb this morning taking me to 1st 10
I am so pleased, this way of eating suits me so well.
snoozer it's our 30th Anniversary next June and I've made it very clear I want to go away somewhere just the two of us, maybe a driving holiday through Italy and France. It will be done on a budget but I don't mind that. Like you say it's just that he's thought about it.
I shall be mentioning it regularly throughout the next few months.
Ok off to update my signatureStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.
