Is it just me? I hate it when the date comes round although I'm very happy in my current relationship...

No it's not just you...I got married on my birthday and for ages I couldn't not remember 'what should have been' even after getting with my now hubby, who I've been with for 10 years. The first year that I truly didn't think about it once was what would have been my 20th anniversary as I was taken on a surprise holiday to Switzerland and on that day was whisked off up a mountain and proposed to! But even despite that it still lingers a little - in 2 weeks it'll be my 50th birthday but a bit of me still thinks how it should also be my silver wedding0

I'm currently getting divorced from my wife of 8 years and don't think I'll ever forget. I think it'll be the thought of failure that I couldn't make it work and she threw it away. It'll always be a very sad day.0

30 years ago today I got married. I happened to see my ex just last week. Not the slightest regret tbh. And I'm not in a relationship at all. But I'm well out of that one!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

Not just you. I always think about it on the anniversary too. Have no desire to ever even speak to my ex again and we both moved on a long time ago...but that date always makes me think.0

Still think of it 2 years after the split/divorce- I don't think it will ever leave meDivorce all finished- now to start saving for a better future!0

I can't even remember the date of my first marriage so, no, it doesn't fill me with gloom... whenever it is.0

That really made me smile for some reason! Glad to hear it isn't everyone...:)Gloomendoom wrote: »I can't even remember the date of my first marriage so, no, it doesn't fill me with gloom... whenever it is.0 -
Today is my wedding anniversary and I had forgotten it until I saw your title, so thanks a lot!!
11/08/2000 we married. And we divorced on St Georges Day a couple of years ago so I'll certainly remember that date too!
(And no, I don't worry about it. There is no regret at what could have been, just a shudder at what could have been...)0 -
I usually remember the anniversary of the day I got married for the first time - it was many years ago.
But no, that date doesn't fill me with gloom.
imho, 'gloom' is a strange word to use if you are in a happy relationship.
Are you really melancholy, despondent, sad about this date?0 -
Today is mine too, Grouse Shooting day or something - lots of people seemed to want to write that in our cards for some reason......
I would have been married 19 years....... a very unhappy 19 years I'm sure, instead I've been married a very happy 14 months
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0
