Ryanair hand luggage - You have been warned

It always beats me why anyone would need a wheeled case anyway when the size and weight are limited.
Because it fits a weeks clothes in nice and easily.
I don't have to lug it on my back, and when in the que I'm not knocking the person behind, every time I move and it swings on my shoulder.
as it's at the side of me and it only moves when I move it.0 -
I wonder how long it will be before Ryanair starts charging for hand luggage. Wizzair already reduced the size of "free" hand luggage, and some US carriers have started to charge too.
Wouldn't bother me, but I can imagine others screaming about ITS A RIP OF WOULDNT OF CHOOSEN RYANAIR with such a policy. From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -
I only fly Ryanair as a last option anyway, hate everything about the airline.
Me too.
I can't stand an airline that offers tickets consistently cheaper than its competitors,is punctual, enforces clearly stated t&cs on its website and is so popular it makes its shareholders profits other airlines can only dream of.
Yep,hate everything about them especially the fact they've forced me to fly with them hundreds of times without any problem.0 -

I don't know about the rest, as I don't queue, I sit comfortably in my seat till they're ready for me.0 -
You would get more clothes in if it weren't for the wheels and handle taking up the space ;-)

But if it already fits enough clothes why take more just for the sake of it ?
I've done the hand luggage only thing to the US for years. I'm off the plane, into a cab and checking into my Vegas hotel before the hold luggage has even arrived at the carousel. I can pack for five days with ease and a week with a bit of effort into a cabin bag.
I don't especially like a shoulder bag schlepping through airports as the walks can be long. Wheels all the way. If I'm planning to shop I buy a cheap hold all or pack a nylon one to use as hold luggage on the way back though.
That said I've also had bags left behind when checked in. The last one took 18 hours to get to me, the absolute worst was 4 days (fortunately on the way home) so another reason to avoid checking bags.
I tend to only use Ryanair to Dublin and the more comfortable Easyjet for LLC trips in Europe though .I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -

Agreed.
I have a nylon rucksack I take everywhere as hand-luggage.
It has two side-pockets,a seperate compartment at the base for shoes and both an inner and outer zipped compartment in the top cover.
I cut off every strap except the two shoulder straps and two closing straps.
It's the only thing I take with me on trips all over the world including the USA,the Middle East,SE Asia, Europe and Australia.
It also makes a great pillow when you're kipping in an airport.
It cost me £25 about ten years ago.0 -

:rotfl:;)
Yesterday when my O/H boarded his Ryanair flight to the UK the attendant checked the seat number, took his cabin bag, placed it into the overhead thingy and said "enjoy your flight" A first, but gratefully received by my O/H.
I speak as I find and I have never had a problem with Ryanair (so far) in the ten years I have travelled with them. It has changed a lot, but as long as one accepts that it is akin to a bus service (with guaranteed seats) I can put up with it. After all for me it is only a 1/20min flight most of which I can happily snooze through!
Cabin bags have to comply with set sizes so I'm not sure how one can take any bigger  plus ten kilo's is the maxim weight.
Wheels all the way for me, it's a long jaunt at Stansted to and from the budget airline gates, for an olden like me :rotfl::rotfl:
Happy flying

I am delighted to report that my girlfriend flew down to France today with wonderful Ryanair. ONLY the first 90 people's hand luggage was allowed on the plane, the rest was put in the hold. Thank god Ryanair are finally enforcing their own rules - people were just taking the p**s.
Trouble is this 'first 90 bags allowed on plane' is re starting the silly Ryanair mad scramble to be first on the plane !!!!!!
I wondered why people were starting to queue at the boarding gate 1.5 hours before the flight............0 -
Ok, let me explain what's happening.
Because more people are deciding not to pay the additional fee's of a suitcase and deciding to make do with hand luggage, there are too many hand luggage items to fit overhead your seat. There is only room for 90 bags to be carried on by customers, the rest have to go in the hold.
When checking in with a suitcase you may be asked if you have hand luggage and if so, do you want it in the hold free of charge, if you say yes, they will put a tag on it but you will keep it with you until you get to the plane steps when boarding the plane, here you will leave your bag and then board as normal. For those who only have hand luggage will be asked this question when queuing up at the gate. Again if you say yes, they will put a tag on it and you will leave it at the steps.
Once the first 90 hand luggage have been placed on the plane the rest of the passengers will be told that their bag will be going in the hold and the same process will begin.
I would suggest that if anyone has concerns or any reason why they can't be without their bag to mention it to the crew as soon as possible, make sure your near the front of the queue or you pay priority boarding and therefore board the aircraft first. Don't forget, you can always place any items in your small bag, such as medication and keep this bag with you.
I hope this helps and eases anyone's concerns.

Well I'm so happy you find them suitable for your needs. Hope you enjoy many happy years flying with them.0
