Ryanair hand luggage - You have been warned

I am delighted to report that my girlfriend flew down to France today with wonderful Ryanair. ONLY the first 90 people's hand luggage was allowed on the plane, the rest was put in the hold. Thank god Ryanair are finally enforcing their own rules - people were just taking the p**s.

When I travelled with Ryanair in April I was given the choice of cabin or hold. When I booked a flight for this week it stated on the ticket only the first ninety allowed in the cabin!
I prefer a cabin case (in the cabin) when flying to France, it's much quicker through customs.
What to do....we pay our money we make our choice.0 -

If you're bag fits under the seat in front of you, you will always be fine with that0

Did you notice, were the rest carried to the plane by the owners and passed to the handlers, and on arrival were they picked up beside the plane or put to the baggage return carousel?
Carried by owners to plane, she didn't hang around to see how they got them back.Turning left avoids some of the idiots (only some)0 -
Do they charge you to put it in the hold?
If they bothered to stick to the size limits in the first place everyones hand luggage would fit on the plane. I'd be upset if I couldn't take a backpack on the plane because someone else had taken a massive suitcase, even more so if they wanted to charge me for it.
I only fly Ryanair as a last option anyway, hate everything about the airline.0 -
it's not to do with the size of the luggage being larger than the stated dimensions, it's more to do with the fact that more and more people are travelling with hand luggage only and are therefore carrying the maximum size allowed onboard0

No they don't - just like any other airline.
And considering most of the whinging on here is about how they stick to their luggage limits too rigidly, I'm not sure they can really take the blame for there being too much luggage! As melb said, it's often down to people taking more and more hand luggage within their limit.0 -
It's only wheeled cases that get put into the hold. I carry a soft bag on my shoulder, am always one of the last to board, and have never had to put my bag in the hold.
It always beats me why anyone would need a wheeled case anyway when the size and weight are limited.0 -
Are you saying that once the 90 people have boarded with their "hand luggage of the right size" everybody else has to pay for their "hand luggage" to go in the hold?SallyD0
