Huge thanks to everyone
I got a call yesterday from Nationwide explaining that I needed to have proof of sending the wrong bottle back before they could refund me. The only other way the could refund me was if the supplier had not provided me with a return address.
I explained to them that in amongst the many e-mails they will see that I asked for the return address and was promised they would send me an e-mail with the warehouse address but I never got it. I added that I was concerned that the website's contact address had changed from Edinburgh to Manchester during the course of our e-mail correspondence - hardly in close proximity to each other!
They agreed and will be refunding my full payment today - yay!
... although they tell me that they could take the payment back pending the result of their full investigation ??
Anyway - lesson learnt, I had always believed that my debit card had the same protection as my credit card.
Thanks to everyone that gave me some really good advice and happy online shopping0 -

Have a good look at the website to see if it gives a postal address somewhere... Perhaps even telephone them. Otherwise post a brief request in the Techie forum on this site, since people there know how to find the physical address to which a website is registered.
If you need to have more info about a website you can perform a whois search, on .com they can remain private, on co.uk companies have to provide an address, only private individuals can remain anonymous (which in itself would be a bad sign)

Yes the company has up to 45 days to reject the claim the bank has made. They would have to provide evidence as to why they were rejecting it. They can only reject it under certain reasons. You have tried everything to return the wine, which you can prove so let's hope they don't. :-)Debt free by XMAS 2015 #027Barclaycard: £0.00Divorce: £0.00 :jKitchen: £0.00 :j0
