Car for long commute

I do a 94 mile a day round trip commute and have a 2012 1.6TDI S Golf.
With steady driving i am getting 65.5mpg brim to brim over the last 25,000 miles or so. Best yet was 69.7mpg over a tank full.
60+ mpg on average would be very easily acheivable.
Road Tax is £30.
You should get a 2010 / 2011 car in that budget.
That would be my choice too, I've had VW's & had nothing go wrong, the wifes car which we had from new is now 11 years old & only had a new set of disks on the front in addition to normal servicing - not even had to have the exhaust replaced. My VW is now 4 years old & only had servicing too.
In contrast, my sister & partner both had Fiats (Punto & Brava), which they were both pleased to get rid of after 3 years. The drivers door on the Brava dropped by 2 inches for no apparent reason? They've now gone for Skoda0 -

Brilliant - No Worries is maybe pushing it a bit far then.

But I do have an extended manufacturer's warranty. :cool:0 -
My Golf Tdi has over 240,000 miles on it and still does long journey with ease so an older one is certainly still viable option. Thanks Paul. I had looked at a Golf also. Would a slightly older golf be a good choice if my budget dropped to around 5k? Trying to work out a range of choices depending on a range of budgets.
This is the first time I've had to consider a car for a long commute so feeling a little lost to reach the best decision!Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

If comfort is your priority then I'd say get an SUV.
I went from a Ford Ka to a Dacia Duster and it's so much more comfortable to drive. I don't think I'll ever want to go back to a low vehicle again. In that case, Ford is Fix Or Repair Daily & VW is Very Weliable as Jonathan Ross would say.
Dont you mean Vewy Weliable
What will your verse be?
