This is a money saving day. Needed some undergarments so rather than driving 30 miles each way to my nearest M&S I ordered online and ordered a christmas present to get free delivery. Then searched for a money off code. Found one, it worked. 20% off!! So then decided to order all the other kids birthday pressies between now and christmas so 9 pairs of pj's & onesies ordered. A saving of £34 and lots of stress saved too. Off to transfer the £34 into my overpayment account :)

Edit: Oh and used Mr Quidco so another £6.76 cashback to get :)

  • So, finally the bs called back. All is okay and they have waived the fee :) So pleased not to have to worry about remortgaging for at least another three years. Getting a mortgage for this house (a self build) was SO SO stressful and is not an experience I would EVER care to go through again!!! Mr C tells me he is already looking for another plot of land. My response is on your own mate! Me and the Little Cups will stay here thank you very much.

Anyway, here are the much number crunched figures and my basic plan to actually become mortgage free.

Our basic monthly payment is £925.58 so I am going to set that up as a regular payment of £1300. At the moment we pay almost £1200 so I figure we can stretch a bit higher. We work for ourselves so it is difficult to say exactly how much we earn each month but we do get bonuses a couple of times a year so I am planning in approx. February of each year to make an overpayment of £10000. Doing these two things alone brings our end date down to January 2023 so I still have a bit of work to do to finish by Nov 2021. This will be much easier, or indeed, harder depending on how busy work is for us over the next few years. It can be either feast or famine in Mr Cups line of work so lets hope we have a good few years. I am going to do my best to economise and make overpayments here and there along the way. I can be a bit spendy with money and if we want something we do tend to get it so I want to make more conscious decisions and spend less on the stuff we dont need. I am going to make a budget for days out, food shopping etc and see how that goes. I am a Mr Quidco fan too so it will all add up.

Anyway best get the kids off to bed. Look forward to sharing my journey with you :)

Well done!! I dont think I have ever come out less than £50!

My lesson learned was dont take Mr Cup next time £400!!!!!! OMG!!!! Having said that we got a LOT of storecupboard stuff that we needed. He bought a new jacket that was £110 but he hasnt had a new rain coat in years and this one will last him years. I bought a few items of clothes that were reduced that I will need for our holiday next April. The biggest expense though was 4 boxes of Barefoot wine that were on offer. I LOVE Barefoot wine and I resent paying supermarket prices. We dont drink much at home though so I would bet those 4 boxes will still be on the go this time next year:)

I am in mortgage procrastination mode just now. I have to make an overpayment this week and I cant decide how much to do. Whatever I pay doesnt count towards our 10% allowance as we change products on 1st September. I have a very bold figure in mind of £8000 ish but that will make things very tight this next few months. Cant decide at all. Think I need to do a little more number crunching and look at all the outgoings for the next few months. Decisions, decisions.

LOL PWD I dont need any encouragement today!! Feeling gung ho(sp?) but before I do that I am going to quickly do our VAT return just so I dont get a shock from that. I am a wee bit impulsive by nature so dont want to pay so much that we cant eat for the next month :)

Off to get the kids from school, then improptu trip to the shops as the oldest cup needs a cowboy hat for cub camp this weeked :) Hoping to find one in a pound shop :)
