    Stop being a crank.

In the broader scheme o things thee keyword lesbian will display a lot o !!!!!! which is something that children shouldn't have access to. Do you not agree?

Why should premier inn pay money to vet ALL (note how you could construe it as genuine discrimination here should they vet only your website but keep other well meaning SM groups blocked) sites linked to keywords such as "Lesbian" etc? They'd probably just end up giving you an "Email only" internet access like you get in some hotels (oh and are they discriminating?).

People throw the "discrimination" (or homophobia) word around too easily these days, and some people in certain groups (ie lesbians as one example o a group o people) try and twist anything because they think that the world in general is out to get them (most people don't actually care and premier inn certainly don't either). I would recommend being considerate/empathetic about other people (ie children in this instance) when talking about an internet connection which is public (and a service provided by a company to which they can simply terminate your access without redress)
  • I think the most important question everyone should be asking...

Was the bathroom floor slippy and was there any drug dealers on the same floor as you??

Hi Jane - on the face of it, yes it is bad....very bad. But I think it's like most others are saying - the filters rather than someone choosing that specific word and setting a policy. We have filters in place at work and sometimes it's laughable what becomes blocked

If Premier Inn (or their parent group) were indeed a homophobic company then I doubt ANY of their employees would be openly gay. Nor would they allow same-sex couples to rent rooms. But they let you in!

If they're providing free wi-fi then they can set whatever controls they wish to.

    This is a non-issue.

Now I wonder how long it will be before some of the posters who've replied are accused of working for PI (again!)?

I've just searched on the word "lesbian" and the first page of google results include:

    25 pictures of lesbian sx
Married lesbian threesome expecting first baby
11 things you've always wanted to know about lesbian sx
    10 great lesbian films

There was one other result which seemed fine but I bet at least 3 of the above are more likely to be aimed at hetero men?

And even if they're not you wouldn't want kids accessing them ( to be clear it's the threesome bit I personally would take issue with rather than gay marriage!).

I don't like the idea of a kid searching on 'I think I'm gay, how do I tell my parents' for example, and not being able to get advice/reassurance if they feel at that point in there lives there's is no where else to go for it.

100k members and it doesn't display on page 1 with the keyword "Lesbian""... That just sums up how much o a non issue it is really....

I suspect it is "Gaygirlnet" the website in question which has 94k members (and looks slightly limited in design and active members but not too bad I guess) and has been registered since 2008 (so possibly a case o keeping accounts opening and thus boosting their member count despite most being inactive). Sites which hide content b4 registering tend to be o a more limited nature because they will members via non-active people who simply want to access material. Looks like they have a payment service too which probably provides a small 2nd income (but kudos should it be considerably more!)

Should it be the website above in question then there are better alternative gay/lesbian SM sites out there. Why should premier inn discriminate against them by unblocking this site? I hope this isn't the OP's website because it just looks tacky despite being a really good idea. A 6 year old site (oh by the way it expires in about 6 months!) should be pretty sexy were it to have been improved over time. Just seems to be ticking over to be honest. I can't see why Premier Inn would be arsed over this as it is clearly not a business but rather a concept the OP has embraced (possibly a bit too much at this stage)
  • I might be wrong but I think this thread is just an ad for the "lesbian social network with around 100.000 members"

To be fair, whilst i think the OP is wrong in her accusation of homophobia, I don't think compensation is the intended result here.

    Unnecessary rubbish

I really don't think a criticism of OPs website or business was necessary. And certainly not so from someone whose business acumen doesn't stretch to them being able to afford £5.99 to buy a new keyboard.
