I went into a Premier Inn in Leeds a few months ago with my partner (same sex) and was told they have single rooms available, I said I booked double, and despite me saying I wanted a double room she seemed to think I must of booked it as a mistake.

I was really tired after a long drive so did not complain at the time.
  • I think that minority members who go around constantly looking for potential discriminatory things that might possibly cause offence do not really do their particular minority, or indeed, any other minority any favours.

Either you're wholly devoted to MSE and wish to contribute constructively to this thread or you've found a cunning way to justify your search for !!!!!!!

Kudos to you whichever it is!

I take it you are using your own device hooked up to the premier inn internet, the op said they were using the public internet terminal in the hotel reception

They have to have filters in place on the terminals in the public areas for obvious reasons

I always appreciate the rugs in travelodges, other establishments seem far more willing to allow people to munch on them.

It could be argued that your post is insulting to lesbians.

Nonsense. I much prefer to munch on carpets. The thread count with rugs is too high. ...:rotfl:

Wouldn't want to do a lesbian search whilst on the public access terminal....

Mrs Ryan.... If you worked for Premier Lodge 9 years ago, then you would know that Premier Lodge was NOT Premier Inn and was actually owned by the Spirit Pub company.

I don't know of any hotel chain that would have put a 'ban' on same sex couples in rooms 9 years ago! Ridiculous!

Yes correct. They were. However just before I left they were taken over by the Whitbread Group and re-branded Premier Travel Inn. I did work for them in the time they were owned by both groups. So you are not correct in saying that they were not Premier inn as they became part of the chain.
And as for the other issue I kid you not. Maybe I worked in a backwater one, I don't know. But I definitely recall seeing something written in one of the policy book things but not that we enforced it- we couldn't care less. I saw worse sights when I worked there than same sex couples in a double room.
