Barclays Rejection Comments for PPI claim

The Bank had to remind me that I had consolidated one more loan than I actually complained about and the period in question was only eight years-not twenty.
I'm assuming front loading means a one off upfront payment? However, what was the basis of the successful complaint - I'm assuming it was not similar to OP - even 8 yrs of statements would be beyond credible I would expect.0 -

My point was that my memory of events was faulty after only eight years, let alone twenty.0 -
Did you know that firms are reporting that over half of PPI complaints dont even have PPI? Do, you think that level of consumer honesty helps things?
I don't want to hi-jack this thread - but in answer to your qestion, no.
I would assume there are three categories of complaints. 1. Those who have genuinely been mis-sold for whatever reason. 2. Those who are borderline either way and/or attempting to take advantage of the circumstances. 3. Those who are blatantly trying it on.
I would put myself in category 2!0 -

With all your advice and comments on PPI on this forum, forgive me but i'm more than a little confused of how the hell you got caught out and were mis-sold PPI and managed to get a refund to the tune £20,000, especially when by your own admission you knew perfectly well you had the insurance.0 -

Front-loading on a consolidation chain is almost guaranteed to be upheld as a mis-sale. I also didn't have to refer to FOS.
You can know you have PPI and still be mis-sold. It's not the sole province of those who apparently find out they have insurance they didn't need or want.0 -
Just a thought, I wonder if your current account application form had one of those opt out boxes which you had to tick to decline ppi in the 1990's? Send a SAR, ask the bank to try and locate this document in their search, it might help your complaint if you decide to take it further.0

I would like to thank everyone who took the time to reply on this.
I had some additional circumstances at the time that would question why I would have agreed to this at the time(savings).
The rejection letter did not appear to be final and suggests I can go back to them with additional information, which I will do.
I will post the outcome.
Thanks again.0 -
But if you had savings sufficient to negate the need for ppi cover why were you using your overdraft? (You thought the ppi was to do with your overdraft so must have been using it)I am a Mortgage Adviser

Klarac needs to understand that he has a very weak complaint and only very compelling additional evidence would sway the Bank from changing their original rejection.
Unless his savings were enough to cover the entire loan (or a very substantial part of it) then they will not be taken into consideration. The PPI would protect these savings too, in the event of any claim.
Going back to the Bank is just making the result of the inevitable Ombudsman referral even further away.0 -
Not a loan, PPI was on overdraft.
Went into it occasionally at the time, always <£50.
Preferred to keep savings untouched.0
