O/S Daily Thread Monday 11th August

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning :hello:
donny-gal Thanks for letting us know how Molly is. Molly, look after yourself! xx
The rain eased off a bit at 9am yesterday, we had sun and showers for the rest of the day. I was a bit bored by mid-afternoon, bored enough to do jobs I'd been hiding away, like going through the box of wires and cables and sorting out the useful things from the chargers for phones that we haven't had for five years
I was up at 5am, the sky was clear out the back and the moon looked amazing.
I need to make space in the shed for a big box of plant pots, not sure I can manage it, there's so much stuff in there. The two man-trus swear everything is important and they can't get rid of any of it. We'll see about that, they're both at work today so I have plenty of time to potter about. And lots of binbags
I think I'm getting a bit lazy with a few things so the Tightwad Gazette will be pulled from the bookshelf and studied intently

Good Morning chums a watery looking sun is out at the moment, but at least its bright.
off to look after DGS today ,saw them yesterday when I went to dinner and DGS Henry is feeling a bit better with his brace on his teeth and it seems to be settling down a bit now.Depending on the weather we will either be foraging for blackberries up at the local country park or indoors playing monopoly if its raining. The boys are getting excited about the forthcoming holidays(so is granny:):)) and we can't wait to get on the ferry to the Isle of Wight.
DD's eldest son who is going to reading while we are away has asked if he can come down to us afterwards and its not a problem as we can bring him home when we come home.He was going to stay at home but had second thoughts I think:):) Bless him he maybe 18 but he still likes the family holidays. he gets his A level results this Thursday so we all have our fingers crossed
Right time to get a move on as I have to be out and round at Dds by 7.45
Have a good day everyone

Good morning everyone :hello:
It's sunny here at the moment but I don't think it's going to last. Hubby has been decluttered off to work and my girls are all still snoozing in bed. I had a rubbish night's sleep but will hopefully catch up later for a nanna nap.
I managed to inventory the chest freezer over the weekend so I am going to be using up all the items that have been in there for a while . Today's offering is a turkey drumstick which is currently residing in the slow cooker ready to make curry later. I will only have a tiny bit of brown rice with mine as I'm trying to keep on top of my blood sugars:A.
I would like to take the girls out later to do something but I'm not sure what the weather will be up to. Maybe the cinema again or just some shopping. They will need school shoes that's for sure so possibly a trip to Clarks. I have Tescos delivering a small shop between 10-11 so it will have to be after that anyway.
Hope everyone is ok today and is having a nice morning. Hugs sent out to all who would like one. Take care xx0 -
Good morning folks  - and a beautiful day dawns here in Merseyside! Yesterday and last night were horrendous as we got the promised 'tail-end of the hurricane'
.
TTFTM - thanks for starting the thread for today - have a good day in work.
tru - enjoy your day of 'shed-sorting'! You DID ask them nicely, so on their heads be it .............
sistercas - sorry to hear that you didn't sleep too well - maybe you can manage a 'Nana Nap' after you finish work at lunchtime.
Molly - get well soon.
JackieO - enjoy your day with the dgk's. Good to hear that dgs is coping with his brace. My dgs1 (age13) has been through about 4 'falsies on wires' as he can't cope with anything around his teeth - but he has got both ADHD & ASD so it's not surprising that something like that would annoy the heck out of him.
dumpling - well done you on getting a freezer inventory done :T - really helps to focus the mind when it comes to meal-planning. Mine needs doing again as I've not kept it updated properly during the past few weeks. Turkey Drumstick done in the SC is  - my OH nicknames them 'Dinosaur Legs'
.
for all who need or want one.
Yesterday morning, DS1 arrived - with wifey and step-son - to drop-off a huge folder of Mum's knitting patterns and 'an old, cracked plastic bag with broken zip' FULL of her knitting needles . These are definitely going to need 'sorting out' as some of the patterns are from 70's/80's and of absolutely no interest to me whatsoever - BUT I adore those from 40's/50's/60's purely for the vintage feel of them.
I've sorted out all Mum's 'costume jewellery' that sis gave me for going to the CS - lots of it needed a bit of a soak in washing-up liquid and a gentle scrub with a baby toothbrush to get it gleaming again. I've matched up pairs of earrings and put them onto pieces of 'birthday card' to be displayed in the shop. Loads of brooches also looking like new again. I've also found some silver chains and a couple of 9ct gold items which I've put to one side in case anybody in the family would like them.
Had a 'clear-out' of the fridge drawers - I'm afraid I've had to throw out some really manky veggies/salad stuff that had gone 'beyond redemption'. This is NOT something that I like doing, but the past few weeks have played havoc with my 'use-it-don't-bin-it-ethos'.
Managed to almost finish a matinee coat yesterday afternoon whilst watching 'Wuthering Heights' (B&W version of course)and found a few more DVD's that need to be watched. Once I've seen them again, I'll declutter them all to the CS.
Yesterday's tea of chips/egg/mushy peas went down a treat - eventually made 'proper chips in the Actifry' (instead of using oven chips) to use up some small 69p SmartPrice pots that have been lurking for 2wks in a cupboard :j.
Plans for today include:- do a packed lunch for OH as he's still on his training course.
- put the Recycling Bin out before the binmen get here.
- put the last of the weekend laundry away.
- check the weather forecast - if it's going to remain nice, I'll get out into the garden to try to put right the weeks of neglect that it's suffered
.
- get some soup out of the freezer for tonight's evening meal.
I'll pop back in again later in the day for a catch up.
bye for now  - luv Lilyplonk xxx0 -
Morning all,
Running late here too so just a quick hope everyone is ok and I will be back later, have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Bright and sunny but still very breezy.
DH, myself and Ds2 are all up and about. DS2 still in his pit.
We’ve changed our plans and are now going to the site we had booked for next week today and will stay right through until the bank holiday weekend – it’s not what we wanted but the immediate threat of flooding has passed after spending so long bailing water on Friday night and again on Saturday morning – all the land around our property is still saturated – so any heavy rainfall/showers - which is still the forecast for the week could flood around our house again – so we’ve decided to stay more local so that we can get home if needed. We’re actually quite lucky that we live not that far from the Norfolk coast so have holiday destinations within a 30 minute+ drive.
We’ll just get the last few bits packed into the car and then get off, we want to get on site – and get the caravan set up, awning up etc, then we’ll be sorted for the 2 weeks. It’s a nice destination where we’re going – it’s a coastal resort, so “if” the weather is warm enough the beach is lovely, if not there’s enough other places/attractions to go to within a short drive. The site “a private prep school” where we camp on the playing field has an indoor swimming pool that we are able to use.
Hubby and myself are both in need of some r & r – so just being away is going to be lovely.
Take care x
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Fish fed, hubby getting ready for work & so far today it's sunny.
DW is on & today I need to clean the fridge & sort out the leftovers from Friday, cheese, cheese & more cheese! We fed the leftover bread to the ducks & have eaten the salad, I made a chicken & chorizo casserole from the left over meat & that has gone in the freezer so that just leaves the cheese mountain. I also have a glut of beetroot to process, I might pickle some of it. I might try to fit some sewing in too, I won't get much done tomorrow as I have DGD who is 6 staying for the day/night.
Time I made a move.
Have a good day

Morning all
A quick hello before going down to breakfast. The weather isn't great but the younger ones managed to go into the sea and we had a lovely walk along the beach yesterday. Off to the fair rides today so praying the rain keeps off.
We have booked bed & breakfast so evening meals are working out to be expensive. No OS options unfortunately. It's only for a week though.
Hope everyone has a great day and will try and pop by again tomorrow2016 Grocery Challenge January: £296.20/£300 February: £262.05/£3000
