Im pretty sure Luca is a matt finish where as Remo is a gloss finish

Luca comes in Matt and Gloss. We have Gloss Alabaster in our kitchen which is perfect if you don't want that clinical white look.

How much did sample doors cost to send back to DIY?
  • I know Magnet do the Integra range and they are a proper handleless kitchen, because I have just fitted one! They are owned by Nobia who own Poggenpohl, and you can see the difference between this range and Howdens J Profile attempt at a handless kitchen. It was a bit more fiddly than a regular kitchen to fit, but once I had worked it out I have to say it did look bloody good. And Im sure that my customer didnt spend that much on it. He showed me the bill and I did try and flog him a Howdens gloss white integrated handle kitchen, and his was cheaper. No idea where he got it from, I just know it wasnt a normal Magnet Trade account. But it was cheap! ;-)

Just had a kitchen supplied from diy.kitchens. We went for Porter Alabaster and it looks fantastic. diy.kitchens will send out sample doors (~£10) plus postage which you can return for a refund, though we are still waiting on ours. Alternatively, you can find a local supplier of Second Nature kitchens from the Secondnature website. Our order was well packaged and nothing was missing. Our fitter used some of the plinth for boxing in some pipework which meant we ran out and it did take a couple of weeks for the additional plinth to arrive. Also, I made a mistake on the order and ended up with 5 doors the wrong size (wanted 500mm but ordered 600 mm:mad:) so had to order more. These came direct from PWS (the manufacturer of the Second Nature range) within 48 hours.

Generally the fitter was pleased with the ease of installation though he did point out that the carcasess were not as square as you might expect from something assemlbed on a computer controlled line. He would have preferred Howdens but I didnt't like their opaque pricing structure (as a customer you never really know how much they are charging and if your fitter is passing on all the discount) and their range of colours was smaller.

It's worth keeping an eye on the diy.kitchens website as they often do sales, though these seem to include their own range Innova more oftern than the Second Nature now. We ordered just before they started one which would have saved us about £350.

The delivery charge is a bit steep at £180 and you dont get the exact day till a week before but some of our units are large and I wouldn't fancy trying to shift them myself without help.

Howdens units are dire for being square, front edges of the carcases rarely flush with each other.Howdens carcases have a 0.8mm thick edgebanding to the fronts which is poor IMO, DIY's are a 2.5mm ABS edgeband that will put up with being knock for a good few years.

Same here with my parents kitchen.Told my father the price and the following day it had risen by £300 but it was still £700 cheaper than Howdens and came with all the doors, drawers, pan drawers, wire basket pull-outs etc all pre-fitted which was a saving on the fitter needing to fit them on site.
