Court papers for parking ticket.

I received a parking ticket in March 2013 which was issued by a private parking company on a university car park which i was attending at the time. I received the ticket due to parking outside of a bay. After reading numerous forums everyone advised not to pay the ticket as the company would not take me to court. However, today (Aug 2014) I have been issued with a claim notice to the County Court, in other words they are trying to take me for a CCJ.
Am I able to defend against this claim or is my only choice to pay?
Thanks in advance

Read all of the stickies in this forum and then post there if you still need help in preparing your defence.
Worst case scenario is, if you lose, so long as you pay within 28 days the CCJ won't show on your credit report. What will your verse be?
