My passport expires before our wedding too but I'm gonna stump up the £70 and have it issued in my married name and post-dated to the wedding day. Your plans sound lovely - no travel stress or worrying what will fit in the suitcase, just load up the car and drive :) Our monkeys are having their own holiday with my Mum and Dad when we go honeymooning but I would like to do a UK holiday with them at some point.
  • We haven't booked but are 99% sure we are going to book the Sandals resort in Barbados that is due to open Jan 15. Our honeymoon will be June 15. It's not everyone's cup of tea an all inclusive holiday, but it suits us because we genuinley just want pure relaxation and nice food and drink. My partner works 6 days a week ( at least, a lot of the time he works from home on a Sunday too) so this will be the first time he really relaxes since we went away in 2013.

I totally understand why people go all inclusive - having everything at your disposal in your resort and just being able to relax is a big plus! It wouldn't be something we could do as my fianc! has to be constantly entertained but you will have a fab time

Oh, didn't know you could do that! But we had a big holiday to the USA this year (which is where we got engaged) and it will be nice to go with the dog (she's only a pup now). Just as long as I don't end up cooking. She'll have a little holiday with the home boarding place for the weekend we get married though

2 of my brothers have married recently - one has gone to Spain for a child-free week in a villa which belongs to his wife's grandparents and the other brother is going to Menorca for a week all inclusive and taking their 1 year old with them as it will also be her first holiday.

When OH and I eventually get married I'd love to do Australia and New Zealand as a honeymoon.
  • We're going away for about two weeks, driving down to Tasmania but taking our time getting there. Ferry overnight and just over a week there before moseying our way back up to Sydney. We picked Tassie cos my OH has never been off the mainland of Australia, but it's somewhere where we have no family and is far enough away to have the time just on our own, while still being familiar enough for him.

It's our first holiday together and we're hoping it will be a good mix of the things we each want to do - he's more outdoorsy and I'm looking forward to the food!!

There will be LOTS of driving but that's nothing new for us. We've booked accommodation but not specific activities, though we have some general ideas. We're planning to go off-grid for most of it - no internet, and preferably no phones either - but will drop in on some family members on the way home.

  • PS Thinking about wedding/honeymoon lingerie here - is anyone planning to bring handwashing equipment with them?? It occurred to me that if I'm going to be wearing pretty things that are more delicate than usual maybe I should actually learn to take care of them ;)

Yeah, I know, showing my practical side here :rotfl:

  • We just returned from honeymoon two weeks ago. It was amazing! We took 4 weeks and did a tour of south america, starting in Rio, then to Iguazu falls on the Brazil/Argentia border, Buenos Aires, Uruguay, Santiago in Chile, La Paz and lake Titicaca in Bolivia, Puno and Machu Picchu in Peru, then Quito in Equador, finishing with a cruise around the Galapagos islands.

It cost more than the wedding but it was worth every penny. My husband and I are different nationalities and met whilst working in the Philippines; we are travellers by nature and it was always going to be a big trip for us.

Was difficult coming back to work though!

I will be - not sure what it's like in Aus but over here you can buy yellow tubes of Dylon liquid so will probably take one of those. They're useful to have anyway for emergency stain removal if needed.

Jealous of you going to Tassie by the way! I really wanted to hop over there when we were travelling but time wouldn't allow it unfortunately.
