Buy veg at the market if you can as i see you shop at tesco which has absolutely ridiculous prices for veg n fruit! our market sells huge dog bowls full of veg n fruit for a pound a pop (you don't get to keep the bowl sadly). after 4 they are either 2 for a quid or half price - which means a massive carrier bag of bananas for a quid!
we buy value range pasta etc as it was 29p for a big bag last time I bought it.

also we take advantage of any offers on here eg the free fiver of veg in the sun at morrisons and the fiver off meat if you send a tenner there too! no good thew meat one for you!! They were just reducing loads of fruit n veg so we actually got a trolley full for nothing! well 28p! Also we got the free salad mentioned above.

then we use a slow cooker as mentioned it saves lots as we cook chicken or gammon joint and it's ready when we get home - but you could do chilli/curries/lentils/dahl etc

Good luck!! I think abandoning Tescos would save you money too. I pop into any food store I'm passing and checkout the bargain areas often picking up whole celeriac for 9p and swede for the same.

also you could try the apps on topcashback for money off food - sometimes it's free. I don't do this as you need a smartphone.

this may seem a bore but we just browse this and hotukdeals whilst watching TV and note down deals.

    Hi

£43 a week for 3 adults and lots of extra random men for meals. Other adult children visiting at weekends etc.

I bulk cook things like lasagne/bolognaise and freeze. Make bulk quiches and freeze. I buy lots of frozen peas etc. We do eat a vast amount of potatoes and pasta and I even make all our cakes. Try approved foods for bulk flour. Aldis for sugar etc. I treat grocery shopping as a challenge. (How low can I go?) I ama big fan of spend like a peasant and eat like a king. Good luck at Uni

Our food and drink bill is around £30-40 per week for 2 adults (exclu. eating out) and we eat really well with free range or organic stuff. Planning is important, we almost always only buy what we needed from promotional items. We are lucky to have Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury, Waitrose, Co-op, Aldi all under 10 minutes drive away. We bulk buy rice, nuts, some veg (like onions, chillis, spinach) and some cooking sauce (soy sauce..etc) from oriental grocery shop, much cheaper.

Our maximum spend is £23 per week for two adults (and I'm often well under that). That includes the very occasional bottle of wine and most cleaning products.
I cook pretty much from scratch. Only one of us eats a small amount of meat. We grow a lot of fruit and veg in our very average sized garden. Today for instance I made six jars of plum jam, two of rhubarb and ginger and two jars of blueberry jam.
I'm lucky to have several supermarkets within walking distance so I go to different ones for their special offers. I also use vouchers and all the apps (Shopitize, Checkoutsmart, TCB etc) to take advantage of reduced priced or even free products.
Of course if I'm out at the right time of day I'll also pick up some yellow stickered items.
