We're near Reading. I think we need the 18 tonne huge removal lorry and 3 men. Local firm coming round today to give us a quote - a recommendation from here and they have great reviews on check a trade, so fingers crossed. As a fan of THE NUMBER THREAD, our NUMBER IS £22,000 a year = FREEDOM
Amended 2019 - new NUMBER is approx £27k pa nett (touch wood)
Amended 2021 - new NUMBER is approx £29k pa nett - heading that way...fingers crossed!0 -
I am paying £1500 for a 170 mile overnight move no packing local firm. Try to move on a week day not on a Friday or Saturday. You will get better rates.
Thanks so much for the recommendation, teabag. Chris came round, really nice man, gave good quote and while he was there we got email saying we had exchanged (finally!) so we secured him there and then. Phew, so relieved. As a fan of THE NUMBER THREAD, our NUMBER IS £22,000 a year = FREEDOM

Do you get it for the right price?0 -

I guess we have more *stuff* than most people as our last move (in December) was around £3400
That was moving the contents of a 2500 sq ft house including 100+ large garden planters 150 miles. Four men over five days - three days to load up and two to offload - no packing service. Our five quotes - from small local removers through to larger firms - ranged from £3200 to £3800 but we have previously paid £4250 for a similar distance with slightly more stuff......
I do envy posters that have so little stuff that it can be packed up on the morning of the move, lol!Mortgage-free for fourteen years!
Over £40,000 mis-sold PPI reclaimed0
