Bought quite an expensive bit of steak from Morrisons yesterday and ate it last night.......yuk, was tasteless, watery and chewy! Won't be buying steak from there again

I went to morrisons once when there was a,previous meat voucher and wouldn't bother to go again even to save a fiver the meat was overpriced and not of a great standard you can get better at aldi without voucher offers on a regular basis ...morrisons veg and fruit looked awful ...the only decent looking things at all were their fresh bakery items inc cakes and pastries, and the freshly cooked pies etc..other than that i thought the store was dreadful no wonder they cant compete and have to resort to these offers all the time

Morries meat, fruit and veg are fine for myself.
To those that don't want the stuff (especially the fruit and veg), for 40p and a little bit of work, the foodbanks would love the donations.
I've bought and donated to family members.

  • I love Morrisons meat and have got lots of steaks from them and never had any problems. The chicken crowns are good value for money lots of meat with little wastage, also easy to cook. The mince is never chewy and the butchers sausages meaty.
The guys behind the fish/meat counter are really helpful and friendly.
Of course its not quite as good as a local butcher shop but with these coupons its great value.

My husband noticed the difference in taste of the mince he said he preferred the mince he was eating (Morries 2 for £3.50) I usually buy Aldi mince which is about £2.79 for a large pack just under a kilo and normally make the lot, but this is much better.

I don't normally do any shopping in Morries unless they have something on special I buy but I will be going for the mince from now on. Well when my supply in fridge and freezer runs out.

the food banks round here won't take fresh stuff at all. I think you'll find that a lot of them are like that because of the perishability of fresh fruit, veg, meat etc. So while it's a nice idea I think you'll find it's a non-starter :(

I am impressed with the meat at Morrisons, especially from their butcher's counter, as until these vouchers I had never bought meat there before. But this week I got a leg of lamb and I needed it tunnel boned so it could be stuffed - the butcher was so helpful and did it beautifully too.

Had some friends to dinner last night and we had the lamb and I have to say it was absolutely beautiful - full of flavour and very tender, both signs of a top quality piece of meat.

Maybe their trick of providing these vouchers isn't so daft after all because I know I'll be back if they are selling quality meat like that!

It's worth checking as at least 2 foodbanks I've donated to accept fruit and veg and at one at least, they take stuff from Sainsbury's donated on their display by date.
Even some allotment holders are helping out in our area.

Definitely worth asking, though some may not.

it amazes me how so many people have 2 or 3 freezers jammed with meat yet want more , how do they have the money if they spend most of there time on here or going to morrisons via the newsagents to stock up on cheap meat and free fruit and veg

I'm a single parent with 2 children and i also work full time. These vouchers have been a godsend for me.

I make the time to go to Morrisons for the cheap meat and free fruit and veg. It's not difficult. Why wouldn't you make the most of them ? The rest of my shopping comes from Aldi.

I'd rather cook meat and veg than waste my money on ready meals or fast food. I'll have no trouble using the stuff i managed to get with the vouchers, and way before anything gets "freezer burn"

This is the first time I've used the morrisons meat voucher and if it is on again I will definately take part. I bought more than 1 copy of the Sun so that hubby and I could stock up and it's been brilliant. Well worth it.
