I just got myself a free sim from EE and topped it up with £10. I've had a look on the EE website for a decent payg plan but I can't find any. I'm confused don't they offer payg deals like other networks do?

No, they don't.

You have to buy bundles of minutes, texts and data separately. Without buying a bundle they are pretty expensive (and you can't use data at all),

I think White Mobile uses EE and has reasonably low rates for calls texts and data, so if you don't use the phone enough to justify a bundle consider moving to white. Also has free calls within network and free voicemail.

Alternatively unlock your phone and move to Three 3 2 1. Cheaper still but no free calls and texts but you do get free data when you topup.

Because I saw an advert saying top up £10 and get £80 worth of mins, texts and data, but it seems like it's not much of a deal

This just shows how ridiculously inflated their 'standard charges' are - 30p/min, 12p/text.

'Three' charge 3p and 2p accordingly.

'Marketing spin' - as people call it on some other forum.

For data (assuming you find the merged 3G network acceptable) the T-Mobile £20 for 6 month deal ( 6MONTHWEB ) takes some beating.

That's excellent but I really want unlimited internet and texts or at least some texts
