Appealing parking ticket - what are my chances?

Hiya all,
Ok I was issued with a parking ticket yesterday. I was parked at my gym and the only thing I can think they have on me is my bumper was 2 inches or less over the threshold. All of my wheels etc were on the property. My bumper wasn't anywhere near a yellow line - the road was double yellow though. They have said it was 'parked on a road during restricted hours' There is no sign around that area on that side of the road either. The nearest sign on that side if the road is about 20 feet away.
I'm absolutely disgusted at this! And I really cannot afford £35!! - that 3 weeks shopping money for me!!
So what are my chances of a successful appeal? I understand they may have the 2 or less inches on me but 99.9% and more of my car was on the private property?
Of course if I'd done something wrong I would have acknowledged it was my fault but I really don't think I've done anything wrong?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance

You have posted on the wrong board. There is a board specifically for parking tickets, and the regulars there will know if you can appeal and what you need to do.

Is it a council issued ticket or from a privat company?
You may get a better answer if you go over to the motoring board as I believe they have a specific parking fine section.0 -
Sounds like a council ticket as it is 'only' £35.
May be better to post on PePiPoo, they are the experts on such things.
