this sounds like a lot of completely unnecessary faffing about as you need neither direct debits nor SOs to receive the Halifax switching incentive.

Once I get the £100 for switching. I can get the £5 monthly reward if I have two DD and does standing orders qualify for the £750 pay in?

I have never had a Halifax acc or BOS

Also this pay in each month say for example I can't pay in £750 but I have £1000 in there. Can I just take it out then put it back in to meet the £750 pay in?

It doesn't matter how you credit the account*, it's the amount that matters. However, if you use the overdraft facility you lose the £5 that month.

    * Cash, cheque, wage, pension, benefit, FP, SO...even an internal transfer from another Halifax account.

    See above.

If you are doing this, I'd space out the standing orders more than suggested in the article. Weekends, bank holidays and delays due to glitches etc might cause you problems if just leaving 1 day between standing orders between different banks. Or just do it manually. I like to log in to all of my accounts once a month to grab statements and check them over anyway.

This article is over 4 months old now, and a tad out of date. The principle is still valid, but Halifax doesn't need 2 DDs for the switch incentive.

TSB have since launched their Plus account, and there are other accounts (e.g. Club Lloyds, Tesco, BoS, Santander) that can be of interest for interest. M&S, Coop and First Direct have switching bonuses.

There is a massive difference between having more than one for historic reasons and applying for an additional one now.

Agreed. Has anyone opened more than 1 account (sole name) recently?.
  • I should also ask : Did the much older T&C for this account specify 'Only 1 sole account' permitted or was it very vague ? .. hence multiples have been opened.
