Does an internet only line rental package exist?

Hi... I need your help guys!

Here's the situation...

I live in a shared house and I am responsible for the landline bill.

The housephone rarely gets used so there's no point in having it really. However, the internet is a must have - MiFi, dongles and other things are not wanted.

The trouble is, I am paying about £25 to BT (line rental, £6 free local call package and £3 or so for call barring to mobiles etc) and £13 to plusnet as I am not on a contract and I don't wish to go on one

So it's over £35 a month just to use the internet.

It is possible to have a line rental package that will not allow outgoing calls (without paying for barring services)?

Taking the handset away and asking people not to use it is not an option, been suggested a million times.

So a non-contract line rental package, with the internet is an option - I don't mind paying the extra to plusnet, is wanted with no opion to plug a phone in and make a call.

With your criteria, you have really narrowed the field down! No dongles/line rental/contract (I assume by that you mean 12 month + contract, as even 30 day packages are 'contracts').

I can only think of Relish that offer a 30 day contract with no landline. Virgin doesn't require a phone line but they don't offer 30 day contracts.

As ADSL comes through the phone line, regular broadband is going to require some kind of line rental, otherwise how would you receive it?
