This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

dandy-candy Sorry to hear about your auntie :( xx

TTFTM Hope everything went well yesterday xx

Judi If you lived closer I'd take you out for the day. I've already planned it - Coffee #1 for lattes, a visit to the docks and cathedral, a fab ploughmans at my favourite foody pub and shopping at a couple of shabby chic shops :D

Mr tru went to see his baker friend, we now have a tray of dripping cakes, a tray of chelsea buns, some fruit buns and some lovely fresh bread - £5 :T He actually paid £10, but that's in advance for the next lot :D

We went to see the tall ship, it was fab. It was on the canal, not the river. I was wondering how it was supposed to get into the docks from that particular stretch of the river :D The crew were chatty and told us quite a bit about the ship, you could wander around the ship too – I wasn't expecting that.

Today will involve picking, chopping and freezing courgettes and tomatoes, some crochet and watching Pirates Of The Carribean. Seeing that ship yesterday put me in the mood :D

    Morning all.

Off to sunny Blackpool today :D

Spent most of last night vomiting. No more fish & chips on the beach for me :( Pooch is off to M.I.L's for the week. I honestly think he comes back fatter than when he went :rotfl:

Just waiting for OH to get up so I can change our sheets. I will enjoy sleeping in fresh sheets when we get back.

Have a lovely day all :)

    Morning everyone.

Just about to hoist myself out of bed and face the day. Been awake for ages but reluctant to put feet to carpet. Most unlike me!

Tru - your days sounds lovely and your array of baked stuff has made me decide to go to shopping. I've got a hair appointment at 9.30 and then I'll wander off to the agricultural show on the outskirts of the town. All bulls and sheep and horses and dogs and tractors. Mind you, if it piddles down I may cry off.

Got my new upstairs telly sorted last night, it's been in its box for ages. I've never ever had a telly in any bedroom in my life and only watched from bed in hotel rooms. Really enjoyed the Last Leg from under my duvet.

Right, OH gone. Me getting up and going.

    Happy Saturday everyone.

Molly, glad you had a good b'day, hugs to Hilly, LW, Judi & anyone else in need.
We had friends over for a meal last night, they left about 11, hubby went straight to bed as he's got work this morning, I followed once I'd cleared the kitchen up, then I couldn't sleep, I was in too much pain, took painkillers about midnight & finally dropped of around 1ish. Up at 7, cooked breakfast for hubby, fed fish, I've dropped hubby at work, I have a friend who needs a shoulder to cry on, visiting at 9:30 & 2 DGC arriving at 10:30, hubby needs picking up at 12ish. Inbetween all this I need to strip the beds & get the WM on, empty the DW & empty the recycling. I'm glad I'm on holiday, I'd hate to try & fit work in as well!
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

Beautiful day here after torrential rain all last night, going to try and get all the washing done today as its supposed to be really bad tomorrow.

OH is at the boot sale and when he gets back we will all race around and have a good clean through, I am seriously thinking of getting a cleaner now that I am working full time, I just don't seem to have the time to do a thorough clean.

Going to visit a new cafe / farm shop that's opened in the next village, it looks lovely from the outside.

Lily hope you are ok xx

TTFTM hope it went well yesterday xx

    Have good days all xx
  • Good morning all

Older 2 being driven to,their Nan's today. Dh is takin them and returning tomorrow. Then next weekend we will all go down.

I would love to have a good tidy up of the house but youngest gets in the way.

I've got some washing and ironing to do.

I will also sort the older 2s bedrooms while they're away. Black bags at the ready!
I'm also going to do a food inventory as we seem to never to have anything to eat yet the freezer and cupboards are full.

    Have a good day all.

    Love, hugs and spoons xxx

  • Good morning everyone :)

Thanks so much for the good wishes yesterday, all went well at pre-op and my admission is confirmed for Monday 18th. I will not get stressed .... repeat as required!

Beautiful day here and we seemed to escape the torrential rain forecast for yesterday. First lot of washing is on the line and have just emptied the bathroom ready for towels, mats, shower curtain etc to go in now. Next job will be stripping the beds.

Bits and bobs tea from one piece of YS steak and half a bag of prawns from freezer. Am fancying Thai (as usual) so will probably do a curry with the prawns and a stir fry with the steak.

Better get on with the jobs list.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day.

    You will be fine TTFTM.

    Morning all,

lovely day here, pity I aint got any washing to do. Hubby was up bright and early getting bits for our sons new (to him) car. Our son hasn't passed his driving test yet but it came at the right price. Hubby wants to change the engine mountings, the brakes and a couple more bits and peices. He'll be messing down there all day no doubt, we will have to fit in the shopping tomorrow.

Ive got our Grandson overnight. He'd got a right one on him the other day, I just hope he's in a better mood today. He will be with us after his tea time, cuddles and play till 8 when he will be going to bed.

Usual family dramas (today's drama is over £20... jeez, who'd have a large family?).

I dare not phone my eldest son as I spent most of Thursday messaging and phoning him and his girlfriend. Youngest son has fell out with his girlfriend (again).

Time for me to step back from it all I think. I need to put about 200 miles between us all (but not as many miles as there is between my daughter in South Africa... that's too extreme and I miss her).

    Onwards and forwards,

    have a great day all.

    Afternoon all :)

I woke up at 5am for no reason and tossed and turned until 6.15am at which point neighbours burglar alarm went off! When it stopped I fell asleep until I was woken by the phone at 9.30am!

My dear friend rang and we had a good 2 hr chat - luckily she gets her mobile paid by her work so it saves us both the money :)

Afterwards I had a through clean of the kitchen, jiffed all the surface and cleaned tiles and inside of bin. I was in such a sweat after that I haven't managed to wash the floor.

I've hung out a wash but I'm keeping one eye out the window as it looks like rain. When DH finishes work I'm hoping he will come food shopping with me. He's wonderful for carrying the heavy bags but he won't let me push the trolley - some boys never grow up eh?

Have a good day all, hugs to those who need them xx
