Mobile not updating email

I wonder if you can help me My Nokia 560 phone has not been updating my emails the way it normally does If I take the back off put the battery back in it updates All the time it is saying SYNCHRONISING when I go to settings The emails are in my inbox on the laptop but the aol on the email and account is dull not lit up and says the above Any assistance in resolving this would be much appreciated I am also plugging it in to try and import photo's but when I go there the phone is there but not lit I click on it and it is my phone It says connect but when I put the cables in it is not transferring the photo Only tried this today
