First coal order....feeling nervous!

I've just ordered some coal for the first time and now I'm feeling really nervous that I've ordered the right sort and amount!

3 medium bags of loose doubles and trebles totalling 150k for £49.80

Does this sound ok?

I'd really appreciate you're thoughts....

The fire will only be lit at night and weekends.

I hope you aren't in a smoke controlled area? I suppose your coal merchant would have known and warned you if you weren't.

Used as you say, 150kg should last you quite a while and that is the right coal to be trying. Good luck!

I checked if we are in a smokeless zone when we opened the fire up and all is ok...we aren't, but thanks for thinking of it.

I'm impatiently waiting for the delivery to see what it's like!

I think I must have been a pyromaniac in a former life.....

Just wanted to say..... The coal has been delivered and there is a good mixture of sizes.....some of them are quite large, so not strictly doubles, but that's fine by me :T:T:T

Hope it burns as good as it looks.....

Well, let's hang on to summer while we can!

That said, I had my chimney swept today. Just as well - you can feel the change in the seasons already.

Let us know how you get on with your coal order.

Well....I've been using the coal mans coal over the past couple of weeks and it's so much better than the bags you can buy from stores. It's larger so lasts longer and it burns hotter too.

I also took advice from this site and tried the Virdo briquttes from Home Bargains...they are so much cleaner, burn hotter, and easier to break than logs, we went and bought another 10 packs!

Just been to my local Dobbies Garden centre, they have Homefire/Ovals 20kg bags for £13.49, however they are offering a 3 for 2, so that brings it down to £8.99 per 20kg bag. Unsure how long this offer is on for.

I love Homefire, the big hexagonal pieces last ages in my stove, blends so well with Anthracite.

Just a heads up, if there is a store near you - plus they accept Tesco statement vouchers, and you can get Clubcard Points too.

If you want loyalty - get a dog:rotfl::rotfl:

All my posts are my opinion, and the actions I would take.

If you can't get a better price than that from a coal merchant (who will deliver thee stuff for you too) I would be very surprised indeed.
