Alternatively you could lose a bit of weight.;):rotfl:
Ha, I was waiting for that comment to come along!
Thing is, my other half has already told me I need to tone up!
Anyway, tailor spoken to and going in on Monday to see what they can do with it so hopefully have this sorted soon.
Didn't realise how much stress and hassle (not to mention money) was involved in a wedding!0 -
Well, the tailor couldn't help. Seemed very knowledgeable but said that they'd have to put too much material in that it just wouldn't look right :-(
Plan b...find another waistcoat0 -
Is it mid blue or navy?
Cream or grey would be the classic combinations with blue or pale yellow if you are more adventurous. You could go with the wedding theme colour but I would leave that to the tie/ pocket square.
The rest of it is just ensuring that it matches the jacket in terms of if its single or double breasted, notch, peak or shawl lapels and it buttons up to an appropriate height for the jacket.0 -

This is about my wedding, so hopefully it fits in here.
My other half found her outfit long ago, but it's my suit that's causing the problem. I've bought a blue suit which includes a waistcoat. Unfortunately the waistcoat is too small and the shop has sold out of all the larger sizes!!
But I really like the suit and want to keep it.
So I'm thinking, maybe a waistcoat in a different colour would look good with it? But what colour to go with blue??
And does anyone know any shops that stock more than about 3 different varieties of waistcoats?
Most Grooms wear a cream waistcoat - obviously that would go with blue!I am employed as a manager in a financial services institution. My views are entirely my own.0 -

In which country? What analysis are you basing that on?
I'm not even sure if "most grooms" wear a morning suit or a lounge suit in this country. In the USA its easier to say its a dinner suit (aka tux)
If you go with tradition then its a morning suit here as our weddings are during the day time in which case its a black jacket, dark grey trousers, light grey waist coat and white shirt. Of cause ultimately its your wedding and so you can wear pretty much whatever you want.0 -
Have you got anyone in the family who sews? Waistcoats are fairly simple sewing projects for someone who is a decent basic sewer (didn't want to say "seamstress", but looks as if that might be better!)
I have made waistcoats to match bridesmaids dresses - but if no-one you know can help, you could try asking in the shop where the wedding / bridesmaids dresses were bought.0 -
