Maybe the wrong place

Hello All,
The family memorial stone we had laid at the cemetery is marble with the lettering picked out in white paint, the lettering is carved into the stone, although it is very shallow carving, the problem is that some of the paint is now missing, is there any way we could fill the carved in lettering with a filler of some kind that would be more permanent that the paint has?

Your local stonemason will be able help you with this. The stonemason will be able to handle any paperwork that is required to get remedial work done.

Hi OP,

You will need to consult a stonemason - filler is not the answer, and paint does deteriorate and come off in something that is out in all weathers; to expect anything else is unreasonable and unrealistic.

You can just have it repainted if you would like, there is usually some paperwork to be sorted beforehand (depends on grave deeds as to what exactly needs to be done) and as previous poster has said a stonemason who specialises in gravestones and memorials would help you with that.
