My mobile seems to get a decent signal most of the time on Orange. The 3G dongle was on 3.

What you could do is unlock your 3 dongle with a code from ebay and then try it out with an Orange (or T-Mobile SIM).

What dongle is it (as some are faster than others)?

If you live in London, you can get Relish 4G broadband for £20 a month.

Picky. Seriously though, if you'd read the rest of my post and not just picked on the title, it should have been clear that I'm not suggesting that 3G=mifi or mifi=3G. I apologize for making a mistake in the title, but by the time I realised my mistake, it was too late to change it. Do you have Asperger's (not that there's anything wrong with that, but it would explain your pickiness)?

In my original post, I was actually considering both 3G mifi AND 4G mifi, but for dongles I was specifically interested in 4G dongles and not 3G dongles, hence why I felt the need to specify "4G dongles" but not "only 4G mifi" as I was interested in any mifi, not just 4G mifi. Does that make sense now?

I did read all of the post and pointed out to you all of the places where you omitted to mention 4G.
Picky? Are you an idiot? You asked for technical advice, so it's important that your request is in clear language, in order for you to receive accurate advice.

So instead of blaming yourself for omitting 4G from your title and your original post, you waffle on about unhelpfulness, pickiness and Asperger's....
Perhaps you should look a bit more closely at your behaviour and your inability to communicate properly...rather than to try to look for issues in others.

Now, after all of that, you admit that you were considering 3G MiFi.
So my very first reply to you covered just that. The prices of 3G and 4G MiFi and the fact that you need to be able to find out which network will give you the best signal(Everything depends on what signals are available at your location.)....since you didn't mention which you had tried within your original post.

Even though most everyone has suggested MiFi as opposed to a USB modem, you are still babbling on about not needing a MiFi. So why ask here for advice?

I could just as easily write that I did not feel the need to mention dongles at all. You should have known from my omission that a dongle was not in the running. Get it? ;)
I'm sure my point was waay too subtle for you to understand.

That is way above this poster's pay grade.

It would involve not only unlocking, but the installation of new Firmware/Dashboard or the use of a separate Connection Manager, as the 3 Connection Manager does not allow the addition of other network profiles.

Of course I could help with this, but I think that the OP would be a hindrance us both.

Thanks Nifty, of course I know this, but just trying to take it one step at time (otherwise they tend to fly off on a tangent - as you have discovered :rotfl: ).

OP, free code unlock for your dongle available here:

    http://www.three.co.uk/Support/Device_Unlock

Also have a read on UKHD if you want to try the Mifi route.

As Nifty rightly explained in post #2, it all comes down to your available signals (hardware is secondary).
