  • I was a big fan of Mary-Anne from the show before the last one.She was pushing the boundaries and I was quite disappointed she didn't win.I had her book Great British Bakes bought for me by my daughter for Christmas.I watched this weeks programme twice I love it that much. I think Normans strong the guy who served up his Swiss roll on a 'skateboard' (according to Sue)that he made himself from pottery.Nancy was good, the star baker,& it amazes me how someone as young as Martha can be good.I mean we have years of practise/experience when we get to our age( I'm in my fifties &still not nearly so good, lol) Next weeks cant come soon enough! Apparently sales of the Mary Berry cooking tin they used went through the roof during the programme( good job I've already got an old fashioned one similar!)

    I remember Mary-Anne,with all the cooking/baking books.

What is this Mary berry cooking tin?
  • We have a sweepstake going in the office :)

I was on leave last week so I missed the first episode but hoping to catch up on it before Wednesday.

Loved the first episode, really looking forward to when it whittles them down! Really like the star baker, the fact she was pretty relaxed impressed me! And the young lady was so good! Seems like a toughie as well! Next episode I may have to buy cake, my baking is def not worthy!

I watched it this year for the first time as my 9 year old son caught a few episodes of last years and is hooked! The last time I made swiss roll was about 35 years ago in school, and I had no plans to repeat the job but then I saw youtube videos on how to do those patterned ones, so I've been thinking about it. It was great to see it done for real.

Oh yes, and I'm hooked too now. My son likes Norman, I like Martha and Nancy but I think Chetna is interesting too.
  • Looking forward to tonight's show!

was so worried that the atmosphere would change after all the publicity last year, nasty comments in tabloids and moving to BBC1 but so far it all seems as friendly and supportive as ever while still fiercely competitive. What I love about the programme is that it shows that you can want to win and/or do well without becoming aggressive and slating your opponents. I like the extra programme because it shows even more of that aspect.
I hate programmes where the constant refrain is along the lines of "I should do well because I worked hard" (even though I am still rubbish).
    Looking forward to tonight's episode!

    Looking forward to tonight's episode!

I must try and watch the spin-off.

The one change of course that makes perfect sense is that all the episodes are shot in the same location.I've always found it strange though, that they rig up a massive tent outside. Why not just find a big kitchen. If they can rig up all the equipment outside, then why not do it inside?

What are these other programmes you mention?I'm just curious.
