Who else is watching?
The Swiss roll technical challenge was very interesting,as it sounds deceptively easy to make.I've never made one myself.I'm always amazed at some of the flavour combinations they come up with.
I thought the contestant who had her first two cakes too dry would be eliminated. The lady with the Jaffa cake bakes seems very strong.I'm not very good with names.Well,it is only the first episode.
Looking forward to next week!

I know, being able to cook/bake doesn't necessarily mean that it's edible or presentable.
It wouldn't be the same without Mel and Sue. :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Exactly! I had to point out to him (couldnt help myself) that it was baking not cooking there is a difference lol and when was the last time you baked a cake.....erm.... thatll be never :rotfl:
the jaffa cake lady is fantastic will probs win, loved Martha she was very talented given her young age, the builder guy was good too.0 -
Won't be surprised if Martha gets through to the final. She seems very good for someone so young.

I love this programme. Oooh and Paul Hollywood, what's not to like.0

It's my favourite programme!0

Not keen on it myself, but I did watch the spin off with Jo Brand and liked that. You get to see the good bits (and out-takes) of Bake Off and the chat was often hilarious.0

I'm taking a punt on Nancy (this week's star baker), Martha and the Scottish chap being in the finals.
Loved Wednesday's opener and the spin off tonight was very entertaining."Does it spark joy?" - Marie Kondo

I've watched it since the beginning, and love it.
I agree, the builder, the Scottish guy and Martha (so young) are all good.
Some of the flavour combinations that they come up with are amazing.
I used to be a more adventurous baker.Nowadays I tend to stick to making either rich fruit cakes or Fochabers gingerbread,as they keep well, and I like them,of coursel. One thing I'd love to do is a Genoese sponge.Making pastry still stresses me out.
I must see if I can watch the spin-off.0 -
I was a big fan of Mary-Anne from the show before the last one.She was pushing the boundaries and I was quite disappointed she didn't win.I had her book Great British Bakes bought for me by my daughter for Christmas.I watched this weeks programme twice I love it that much. I think Normans strong the guy who served up his Swiss roll on a 'skateboard' (according to Sue)that he made himself from pottery.Nancy was good, the star baker,& it amazes me how someone as young as Martha can be good.I mean we have years of practise/experience when we get to our age( I'm in my fifties &still not nearly so good, lol) Next weeks cant come soon enough! Apparently sales of the Mary Berry cooking tin they used went through the roof during the programme( good job I've already got an old fashioned one similar!)0
