Part time work for a (just) 16 year old

Go to www.theBestOpportunity.co.uk and ask for a FREE information pack for a business you can run for yourself from home part time. Must be over 18 to start but you could start it in your own name. Then you could use your son or daughter to do the donkey work and all their efforts would earn them some money. 8 hours a week part time can easily earn £250 per month or more.
This really works, proof of incomes is readily available. Featured in teh Dily Mirror on Monday of this week.
Go check it out. Nothing to loose.0 -
She may find it quite difficult to get work as she is under 18 and that apparently causes problems from an insurance POV.
I collected glasses at my local pub on Friday and Saturday nights it was from about 7 - 1130 and the landlord used to take me home so it was a pretty good deal. It is definately worth asking as on a busy night glass collecting is a nightmare!! Now everywhere is no smoking :T there is no smelly clothes from all the smoke either.
On a busy night if the bar had been really busy i sometimes got an extra £5 for working hard!! I earned about £2 an hour then but it was 1987 :eek:0 -
I was going to recommend food pubs / restaurants - have you got any big food chains near you such as Vintage Inns, Inn & Out, or Chef & Brewer etc?
They tend to be open from 10 am to 12 midnight and there are all kinds of shifts available. When I worked in one, the Under 18s got paid the same as the Over 18s if they had done the training - which as quite a lot more than they would've got in most shop jobs.
My son works as a washer upper in one of these and he earns £6 per hour which is great money for a 16 / 17 year olds pt job if you ask me!
They busy ones are always hiring, and especially now as the students start leaving as they find "proper jobs" or take a couple of weeks off before they go back to college.
I'm considering going back to it myself!

Hi All,
I know there's already been some good news on this front but I thought I'd add my experience for those still looking...
I started work at age 14, I went to a local shop that was privately owned. this seemed easier than a chain etc as they had more autonomy. It also meant I got lots more experience and by age 16 I was in charge of ordering stock and training any new staff! In my later jobs in recruitment I learned that CV's are good up to a point but just listing jobs or whatever won't make you stand out. I used to go through with people what they've done in those jobs and found that putting it in terms that the employer could understand always helps. EG while working for XYZ bookshop I increased sales by £X by rearranging the display of Martin Lewis books (or whatever). So if you tell them that you could make them money or save them money (and how much) you'll stand out! If it's a first job don't forget to tell them about any positions of responsibility eg organising an event at school, clubs or societies etc particularly times when you've been trusted with money...
Good Luck All!0 -

River island are continuously employing part time students and if you live near a large shopping centre (i.e. Bluewater) they normally have 'recruitment weekends' around the end of August/beginning of september ready for Xmas. Just contact the customer service department and they will tell you where to send your CV to.;)0

Thanks to everyone who has replied. We have been away for 2 weeks but just prior to our holiday she put her CV out to about 30 shops in 2 different towns near us as well as contacting a couple of employment agencies that say they recruit students / part timers and emailing local golf clubs etc. To date only one has replied  with a 'will keep you on file' response but we are keeping our fingers crossed (she did say in the accompanying letter that we were away until this week).
I am hoping that once the Uni students start going back in September there will be some jobs going as she is going htrough her bank account at a rate of knots at the moment:eek: . I'll let you know if there is any good news!0 -

My 17yr old son started looking for a part time job in July last year sending out CV's to everywhere you could think of and eventually got a reply in the September and has been working part time ever since. September really seems to be the best month to find the work as Xmas is coming and students leave to go back to uni. Good luck!!0
