Hi,
Returned from Disneyland paris and the kids and wife didn't bleed my dry.
I've got about 220 euros ( 15 of that is in 1 and 2 euro coins )
Wheres the best place to change it all back up please?
Cheers
(DLP was nowhere near as expensive as everyone told me)

If you change it you will most likerly lose a fair bit, do you know anybody to sell it to, could work out good for you both0

Unfortunatly no Im afraid.
Just need to turn it back into cash to repay some bills.0 -
Not another one who buys currency.... Do people never learn?
Best case scenario for you is if someone in Bristol reads this and you manage to come to some private arrangement....or you can go to the airport if nearby to see if someone in the queue for European destinations needs them. They'll take your hand off if you offer 1.30€ to the Pound....which is still a good rate for you.
or outside your local Thomas Cook...you get the general drift.
Cheques and Change looks reasonable at 1.3333
They are in your neck of the woods. They'll give you £165
Though I doubt they'll accept the coins. So £153.75 for 205€0 -
Serious question: you intended to spend this money, so what would you have paid the bills with if you'd come back with nothing?
Best value option would be to hang on to it until you return until the Eurozone (although this doesn't apply if the important bills will cost you interest, have the gas cut off or lead to repossession of your home).
Alternatively sell it to a friend or work colleague heading it to the Eurozone.0 -
If you must change it back to GBP, and can't find anyone to do a private deal with, have a look on the Travel Money Maximiser on this site (Buy Back section) to compare rates. The best rates will be by post (unless you can get to central London) so you'd have to factor in the cost of secure delivery of the cash (about £7.50 IIRC). With the kind of amount you're changing you may get a better deal on the high street after taking into account postage costs. I doubt you'll find anywhere to change the coins.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -
advertise it on the works notice board
then get a halifax clarity CC for next time0 -
Have now found someone to buy it
Have got a clarity CC but hard to pay ice cream vendors with that.
Dont want to hold onto it for a year or more. Bills not desperate by any means but would prefer money back in my bank not a sock under the bed

Much easier to budget so that you dont have any left over by using it to withdraw what you need
i always keep hold of any leftovers its much cheaper than any other method if money isnt needed0 -

Can you really budget that closely? I can't
But I do attempt to keep any leftovers to a minimum and keep them for the next trip
I have a vague memory (and it may be a false memory) that one of the BdeC (??Thos Cook??) would sell bags of euro coins - which implies they buy them too. But I can find nothing online to confirm it.
I did come across a hilarious statement on one board 'the Bank of England are obliged by law to change euro coins':rotfl:0 -

I dont budget closely at all as it doesnt bother me having any left overs.
I would think if it was going to be an issue on return then it would be easier budgeting by withdrawing cash abroad and should be fairly easy to make sure you dont have over 200 left0
