    Well what an eventful swim....
Was quietly minding my own business ploughing up and down the fast lane with 3 men. All seemed to be fine until one of them said quite unexpectedly that women shouldn't be allowed in the fast lane and I was in the way. I was swimming faster than him! I'm an ex-club swimmer and have swum all my life so I'm not a slouch in the pool (if I say so myself).
I was absolutely f***ing furious!!! Apoplectic! Ended up having a stand up row with him when he said a few more ridiculous things and although it usually takes a lot to annoy me he ended up getting it both barrels, very loudly!:mad:
Called him the rudest person I have ever met, a sexist insecure pig and a bully. Then got the lifeguard involved, who agreed that I was the fastest swimmer in the lane and was doing nothing wrong, complained to the manager and made a written complaint. The manager knew exactly who I was talking about so he's obviously got "form".
A couple of women congratulated me in the showers for standing up to him - I suppose many would have been intimidated and bullied. He picked on the wrong woman today - pR*ck....
    And breathe.....

On the positive side I used a Nectar swim voucher so the swim was free and didn't take my purse so wasn't tempted to spend anything.:A
Have also walked the dog (although its pouring down again now) and tidied out the wardrobe, so not a totally unproductive day so far.

One more little thing, I made a lovely pitta pizza for lunch using one of the 5p pittas bought yesterday and some odds and ends from the fridge that had to get eaten or binned. Quite pleased with myself.

Off to lie in a darkened room to calm down:rotfl:

Thanks Lulabelle - I just channelled my inner cow! :rotfl::rotfl:

Been busy, made a massive chilli using up a load of the veg and have 3 portions left in the fridge for another time (might go in the freezer tomorrow), stewed apples and blackberries (yummy) and have two large portions left over.
Then walked the dog again, dyed my hair and sorted my eyebrows - even painted my toenails.

Just added up my weekend spends and it totals just £3.53 including a grocery shop to last me to the end of the week :j
I haven't counted the vet bill as that is an unavoidable spend and not something I could have budgeted for - sadly the vet thinks its not covered by insurance but I'll give them a ring and see - you never know.

I need to try to keep my spend low from now until the end of the week as I have to find £50ish for petrol to go to the funeral on Friday, which was obviously unexpected.

Little positives for today - I stood up for myself, have managed to cook proper food that will last a while, got some exercise, sorted out a wardrobe that desperately needed it and have done a bit of personal maintainance. And the biggie....OH is back home tomorrow - hurrah, its been a very long week without him around.

Glad to hear you stood up for yourself at the pool. I would love to be able to stand up to bully's like that.

Pitta pizza's sound interesting, how do you make them?

Its just something I saw on a Sainsburys advert - nothing fancy but fairly low cal and uses up bits in the fridge.

Take a pitta bread as the base, smear a bit of tomato puree over it, add veg (mushrooms, onion, pepper - anything you have in) and a bit of ham/bacon/pepperoni if you're a meat eater and have bits in the fridge and top with some cheese - I had a ball of mozarella (44p Aldi) but you could just use grated cheese.
Shove it in the oven (will probably work under the grill too) for a few mins and when the cheese melts/browns its done!
Dead cheap and surprisingly nice and quite filling.:)

    Morning all!
Up early today as the handyman was coming at 8am to put up the new bathroom blind - he's been and gone and done a good job and only charged me £20 (quote was £30) so a good start to the day and the bathroom now looks complete. All clean and fresh and new.:)
I've asked him for a quote for painting the faschia boards as he seemed so capable and reasonably priced.

Going to take the dog for a walk, hoover the house and then try to force myself to do some school work. Then OH is back and so will spend the evening with him - hurrah!

Well its been an eventful few days and I haven't had the time to update here.
OH came home and we spent a lovely 4 days together just eating, drinking, being a couple (;););)) and just getting back to normal again. I forgot how happy we are together - I'm very lucky.
The good news is that I haven't spent that much - could have been much worse - but I have spent a bit.

Grocery wise I've spent another £9.80 in Sains but £4 of that was on tights for the funeral and another £5.80 today, taking my total spending on groceries this month to £46.10 and I only need some dog food for next week whilst I'm away (going to Ibiza on Friday and mum is looking after the dog).
That should see me almost to the end of August so I've spent about half of what I usually do on shopping so far.

I got paid on Friday but my salary was reduced by approx £100 due to the last teachers strike day :mad::mad:
Never mind - can't be helped. I will always support the union.

I need to go through the finances properly later on to make sure that I know exactly where I am. I paid the Next bill yesterday online and am up to date with that and the new CC for the balalnce transfer arrived - its not going in my purse though, its for paying off the balalnce only.

Last week was good foodwise as OH fed me for almost every meal :D and so there was quite a lot of fresh stuff left over in the fridge to use up and I didn't buy anything extra.

So, to use up some veg I have made 3 cheese, onion and potato pies tonight and just scoffed one for tea - there's one for the freezer and one for tomorrow left - and it was blo*dy yummy!

Just had a quick whizz through the money situation and after all bills, DDs, mortgage etc have gone out of my account this month there's £350 left over(if I pay off the over draft completely out of this month's wages). That has to cover food, petrol and spending money but I do have the majority of the holiday money saved up in a separate account.

There's £27 in my purse so hopefully that will see me through for bits and pieces until Friday when I go on hols.
I have plenty of food in to last until I go away and need to put petrol in to meet my mum half way to swap the dog over so she can look after him whilst I'm away - that will probably be around £30 worth :( but cheaper than the kennels and he's much happier there.

I also need to buy toiletries and suntan lotion etc for the holiday but will shop around and get the cheapest that I can (own brand stuff just doesn't suit my hair but I'll go to B&M for the best deal on branded stuff).

On the positive side, I drove back from Wales with fuel in mind and managed to make £40 of petrol last a round trip. Also, when I popped in to Tesco Express for a few fresh bits to last the week I was going to buy a bottle of wine for tonight and found one in the bargain section reduced to £2.99. I've had half of it and its quite acceptable:rotfl:

Just back from an epic walk with the dog - about 7km in total. I decided to kill a few birds with one stone and get travel money from Tescos, dog food from Aldi, toiletries from B&M and to take some unused decorating bits back to Wickes all whilst walking the dog. The only problem was that I had to lug it all back home in a rucksack - pooped now!

The good news is that I got a £15 refund on my debit card and £3 on my credit card (not much but better off the card than unused bits cluttering up the house).
I spent a total of £7.50 on toiletries for the holidays (paid in cash) and £11 on suntan lotion and aftersun (on debit card) and £4.69 in Aldi on enough dog food to see him through my holidays (debit card) - so the £15 refund more or less cancelled out the debit card spend ;) Thats good for me because I'm a b*gger for not taking things back and things hang around the house and eventually get thrown away :o

I picked up euros using money already saved up so no unplanned spend there really either.

So a good trip out, burning cals, saving money and getting the dog exercised all in one go.

I really need to get some school work done today - no more excuses or putting it off. Once I make a start I usually get into it so its just a matter of getting on with it. Apart from a routine smear test this afternoon (lovely!) I have no plans for the rest of the day so I have plenty of opportunity to get started.
I also need to have a look through the clothes etc for hols and do a wash if anything needs freshening up.

Off to update the grocery spends and attempt to get organised.
