Morning to whoever may be listening (maybe nobody!)

Just back from taking the dog to the park for a trot around - he seems pretty well recovered, running around and playing with other dogs - a big relief. Looks like its going to pour down soon so a good job we've been for an outing early.

Had some sad news yesterday, a close family friend passed away, he's ahad Parkinsons for 29 years and finally it beat him. Very sad for his wife. Have sent a card this mornng and will try to get to the funeral, although I live 200 miles away from my family so its a bit of a trek.

Today was going to be a NSD but needs must - had to send a card but at least I already had stamps.

So, what's on the agenda for today???
I think I'll try to get a few jobs done around the house....
    • unpack some school boxes and tidy the "study" (posh name for the box room with a desk and shelves in it!)
    • go through work clothes and give anything that needs doing a freshen up wash ready for the new term
    • do a little bit of school work - writing some curriculum maps
    • maybe do a batch cook to use up some of the fresh stuff bought and get some meals in the freezer
    • give the dog a nice long walk later
    I'm sure I'll get distracted somewhere....usually do!

Welcome back to the forums. I think it is a great place to regain some focus. And the other good thing, is that you get to find out money saving stuff too, that you wouldn't normally know about because it is on a website/paper/advert etc that you don't normally look at

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Hi guys! Thanks for dropping in. Well I am nursing a mild hangover today, all my own fault ... Rose wine and baileys don't mix :-(
But I have managed to take the dog to the park and then on to the vets for his check up (all good) and pop to sains for some much needed hair dye. Bargain too, as it was on offer for £4 instead of £7, got 2 boxes while it was cheap. I have naturally very dark hair which is now very grey and the roots need doing every 3 weeks or so, it's a pain but very necessary.
Currently sitting in the garden reading a book and fiddling about on my phone, recovering slowly.
But it's getting cloudy so I may have to go in soon.
Not sure what to busy myself with this afternoon yet. There are loads of jobs that need doing including school work so it's just a matter of what I can force myself to do !

Hi Pixie - great to see you!

Well, the sun came back out so I perservered and stayed in the sun until about 4pm and then took the dog to the big park for a run around and whilst there saw loads of blackberries. I only had poo bags with me so I used a clean one and spent 20 mins or so picking them - now just have to think of something to do with them - more free food!

Surprisingly, I've managed to chomp my way through all of the fruit I bought with the Morries voucher and have made a dent in the veg. I have one more voucher left and so will pop out tomorrow to get some more.

Staying in with a bath and the telly tonight trying to make up for last night's debauchery.:o

Got bored and thought I might as well go bargain hunting with the Morries voucher and a £5 clubcard token - managed to get a good haul....
All of this for a grand total of £2.53 :j
    • punnet of red grapes
    • punnet of strawberries
    • 4 cooking apples
    • tray of button mushrooms
    • 2 bulbs of garlic
    • cheese and onion roll (reduced)
    • apple pie (reduced)
    • tin of beans
    • 1 posh bread roll
    • 8 cans of diet pepsi (on offer £2)
    • 6 tins of dog food
    • tin of chopped tomatoes
    • tin of black eyed beans
    • 2 packs of small pittas at 3p each!
    • 1 pack of large pittas at 5p:rotfl:
Not a bad haul for £2.53:T:T

Going to make a big vat of veg chilli (with a few types of beans) tomorrow to use up some of the veg and freeze a few portions for when I'm back at work.
    Strangely chuffed;)

So it's like a monsoon out there, so wet that even the dog won't go out :-(
Will have to fill the day with indoor activities or I'll go slightly potty sitting about - I'm not good at doing nothing.

I thought I'd try and get the following done (another list sorry!)
    1. Dog walk when it eases off a bit
    2. Go swimming using free Nectar swim voucher
    3. Register my professional qualification assessment window and back up some work
    4. Tidy the work wardrobe and collect a few bits for the charity shop
    5. Make a chilli to use up veg
    6. Make stewed apple and blackberry
    7. Write 2 curriculum maps for work
    8. Dye hair
    9. Sort eyebrows

That should keep me busy enough...let's see how much I actually get through :-)

Hi Welshwoofer, glad to see I am not the only one sitting in the house looking out at a Monsoon, I left both windows in the car open last night too, heading to the shops now so will need to take a few towels with me as car seats are soaked.

I love making lists too its the only way I can get through the day, items 8 and 9 on your list got scored off mine yesterday. I bought a home dye in Boots for £6 instead of the usual £50 I spend at hairdressers, turned out not too bad if I do say so myself. as for the eyebrows A hedge trimmer was required LOL.
