Were you the driver at the time? or was someone else driving (who happens not to have the same address as you)? ;)

Why does this matter? My wife and I live at the same address and drive the same car.

Me in my car, which was registered with the DVLA at my mothers address, so all post went there. In the following month I moved out into my own property and re registered my car (and everything else) to my new address. SMART Parking sent a letter to my mums house but I don't have much contact with my mum and only just received my post since January :S

I would certainly take as many bits of evidence of 'spend' at Asda in the form of receipts, bank/credit card statements and ask if:

    a) they think that this is how a genuine and regular customer should be treated by their agent, on their behalf; you were on the day a customer, not someone who'd parked there and gone off to work for the day

    b) are they happy to risk losing the amount of custom you, as a regular customer, bring to them each week over a £120 penalty their agent, on their behalf is trying to fleece you out of.

I would keep emphasising that it is Asda doing this to you via their agent, who they have full authority over as principal to the contract.

    See how that goes
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Just looks more convincing when you 'identify ' the driver. Some PPCs ae more likely to accept late driver ID when the address is different. But the OP clearly likes to be honest (I had a little devil whispering in my ear when I typed that one)

I'm the only driver of my car, I refuse to share it, I saw the window ticket but was told to ignore it, then I moved house and didn't know I'd been sent letters to my previous address until yesterday... Because I hadn't heard anything I forgot all about it.

What should I say in asda? I'm really terrible at sticking up for myself and my only defence is that the reminder letters didn't get posted to me, they went to my previous address, so I was unaware of them.
I can get bank statements showing asda on them easily enough though :)
No need to waste your time and effort.
    Just email the appeal.
Not so smart role over all the time.
I write some right old pony, and yet to get them to decline.

Going to a store now is a lesson in futility as all/most of the Managers have gone. You'll only wind yourself up.

Following this thread as I'm in a very similar situation - overstayed at an Asda car park and received 'Smart Parking' letters to an address I have since moved from. Latest letters are from 'Debt Recover Plus', and this morning I have a voicemail from 'Mackenzie Hall' regarding an outstanding debt, which can only be related to this damned parking thing! Now off to read the stickies and start writing emails ...
