And guaranteed, her a-hole of a solicitor will be back in court suggesting she didn't get a fair trial in Peru where the system is rife with corruption and her "Human Rights" have been violated and she should be re-tried over here with the aim of getting her out of prison early.... all on legal aid !!

I think it's a given that she will be re-tried and released.

Or at the very least have her sentence reduced and released on probation for good behaviour within a year !!

I suspect this will happen, the confession in Columbia was only under 'duress' but now she is in a 'fair judicial system' she can tell the 'truth'.

Once released from prison she will sell her story and earn vast sums of money that will enable her to lead the life she has always wanted.

You're not supposed to be allowed to profit from your crimes. Although mr nice Howard marks seems to have made a career from exactly that.

Any legal experts there to tell us the law on this? How can Howard marks produce a best seller if the principle is that crime must not pay?

It (proceeds of crime act) only covers proceeds gained from the actual criminal act.

Well I don't claim to be "legal expert", but I can point you in the right direction.

There is no law that prohibits a convicted criminal from publishing an account of their crimes. There is however a law that allows the courts to orders requiring said criminals to hand over part of all of the money they have made. The authorities do not appear to have made any court application regarding Howard Marks.
