Free texting from pc to mobile

Does anyone have any experience of sending free text messages from pc to mobile and if so what programme.....website do you recommend. I found several sites on google but am a bit afraid of downloading a totally unknown quantity.

o2 site let you send 10 text for free every month, just open an account and shoot, no strings attached I send about 9 per month so it's working fine for me.
This site will let you send for free, with a small line at the end of your message advertising their services. but nevertheless its' FREE. (which is nice).

Beware of Some sites, I also as the above post use http://www.cbfsms.com/ there are a lot of sites that advertise free texts but if you read the terms and conditions most of them charge the reciever £1.50 so always read the terms and conditions in full before using any so called free text site.0
