I would hope that is entirely upto the Scottish people. The majority of the UK are neither for nor against the idea and are more than happy for the Scottish to make their own minds up on the matter. Regardless of your own personal opinion on the debate. ;)

I'm sorry to say that is very naive.

The biggest opposition to a YES vote is the Westminster, media run "project fear", which is trying to influence the vote by any means possible.

If Westminster wasn't involved, YES would win by a landslide.

I'm of the opinion that it is up to Scotland to decide Scotland's future. However one thing I will say is that I am vehemently against an independent Scotland sharing the currency on the current basis. I'm not against Scotland having its own pound, using existing banknotes, but what I won't favour is an independent Scotland in currency union with rUK. In fact it is one of the few issues I feel strong enough to go out on the street and protest against. I would be very surprised if I'm alone in this. If Scotland wants to use the pound "Panama style", then that's up to Scotland, but monetary union with an independent country, no thanks.

'project fear' is well known to all Scots with more than 2 brain cells so surely Alex has turned this to the YES advantage

whilst I appreciate from a committed sycophantic SNP point of view, all opinions that oppose 'faux' independence are treasonable: in real democracies many views are allowable without the assumption of intrigue or malice.

The more I think about the debate last night, the more annoyed I get. It was awful and was so out of touch with the conversations I've been having with friends, family and colleagues. It is this adversorial, evading the question, aggressive approach to politics which I hate.

    I agree with this comment

We're not being asked to vote for these men, or their parties. Indeed, most of us will never meet this pair and so their performance means little. Most voters will meet, not politicians, but canvassers at the door and campaigners at the stall. They'll discuss the issues with friends and colleagues. The doorstep and the canteen and social media are where things will be thrashed out and decided. The main purpose of this TV debate was to spark another debate amongst ourselves. So thanks chaps, but we'll take it from here.
