POPLA Code not working

I've tried to upload an appeal and when I put the POPLA code in a message is displayed saying the number is invalid.

I called POPLA and they confirmed that the code was ok but regardless of what computer or browser I use the same message appears!!?!?!

This seems VERY fishy to me!

Has anyone else had the same problem?

There's been some gremlins in the POPLA system I suspect - another poster has had the same problem.

Keep trying - it will be fine if POPLA have said the code is OK

It may be worth you posting your (redacted) appeal on here - just for the regulars to make sure that what you're about to submit covers all the relevant (and latest) points.

Thanks very much Ezerscrooge, glad to know its not some sort of POPLA scam!

My appeal is here and due to the low level of response I think it can only be a good thing (apart from the odd typo etc) :o

Seen it. It is good. I'd add the following to the bottom of your No GPEOL as it refutes any claim they may make for 'commercial justification'

Neither is this charge 'commercially justified'. In answer to that proposition from a PPC which had got over-excited about the ParkingEye v Beavis small claims decision (now being taken to the Court of Appeal by Mr Beavis anyway) POPLA Assessor Chris Adamson has stated in June 2014 that:

''In each case that I have seen from the higher courts,...it is made clear that a charge cannot be commercially justified where the dominant purpose of the charge is to deter the other party from breach. This is most clearly stated in Lordsvale Finance Plc v Bank of Zambia [1996] QB 752, quoted approvingly at paragraph 15 in Cine Bes Filmcilik Ve Yapimcilik & Anor v United International Pictures & Ors [2003] EWHC Civ 1669 when Coleman J states a clause should not be struck down as a penalty, “if the increase could in the circumstances be explained as commercially justifiable, provided always that its dominant purpose was not to deter the other party from breach”.

This supports the principle that the aim of damages is to be compensatory, beginning with the idea that the aim is to put the parties in the position they would have been in had the contract been performed. It also seems that courts have been unwilling to allow clauses designed to deter breach as this undermines the binding nature of the initial promise made. Whilst the courts have reasonably moved away from a strict interpretation of what constitutes a genuine pre-estimate of loss, recognising that in complex commercial situations an accurate pre-estimate will not always be possible, nevertheless it remains that a charge for damages must be compensatory in nature rather than punitive.''

Usually only when people have tried to 'submit evidence' instead of 'make an appeal'. If it's not that, and not your browser and still doesn't work even on another PC, obviously just appeal by post instead using a standard 'POPLA form' as a covering document with the printed appeal stapled (not paper clipped!) securely to the form:

    https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B160FlN9Mss2ZFhqZnZqTzFIUUE/edit

If you post it make sure the appeal printout is signed at the end and has the 10 digit code and your name at the top or bottom of every single page (on a header or footer) and that it is page numbered, and that the POPLA form is also fully completed and states in the appeal box that the appeal is attached and how many pages it comprises.
