Problems with o2 - what are my chances to solve?!?!

Hi all.
First of all, I have two connections on contract with o2. I have an XDA Mini S that I use with a data sim card (o2 contract) primarily for Tom Tom (with traffic subscription requiring GPRS). I also occasionally use the Mini S to surf the web and also download emails whilst on the move. It is a good device but a bit too bulky to use as an every day phone.
So, when my original data tariff (took to get a data card to use on laptop when travelling) came up for renewal, I signed a 12 month contract to get a new XDA SP. TBH the SP has been crap. It has been away for repair in the last month and now has another fault. I took the contract in Feb 07, so its just coming up to 6 months old.
The Mini S referrred to above was supplied on an 18 month contract that can be upgraded in November 2007.
I am sick and tired of the SP, whilst on the continent last week on business, I had to buy a sim free phone as the thing froze up on me and I could not make or receive calls.
What I am gonna try to get o2 today (going in to a branch and will speak to Manager) to do for me is to release me early from the older contract (on the Mini S, 18 months due to expire Nov 07) and allow me to sign a new contract to get a Nokia N95.
What are my chances?
Any one have any better suggestions?
