Expectations of a skip hire company

another vote for collecting when they say they will
I have used skip companies twice.
the first one on pick up failed to use load spreaders for his stabilisers and so put an 8 inch deep hole in the pavement. luckily 2 weeks later NTL (as was) trenched their cables in and resurfaced the whole pavement so no one knows any more that there is a patch I had to repair myself with concrete
Used a different company the next time obviously - I called them on a Monday to come and collect the full one at their earliest convenience, but pointing out that I had a delivery booked for 5 days later, no problem they said, will collect on the Wednesday.
2 hours after 20 tons of type 1 was delivered on the Friday and dumped in the road because the skip was blocking access to the excavated driveway, the skip lorry arrived to remove it. The driver was damn lucky I did not give him a shovel and make him move the type 1 into the hole where the supplier had assured me it could be dropped by them without any problems - it took the whole weekend to barrow 20 tons into the drive - thankfully it was a cul de sac so no real impact on traffic from the road being partially blocked but that skip company is also off my Christmas card list
whilst it is doubtless true you get what you pay for, I will be rather sceptical about the integrity of any skip hire company forever more0
