Has anyone here have any experience of using the "paypal here" credit card reader? My partner needs some sort of method of taking credit card payments whilst out and about, (trade shows, country fairs, Agriculural Shows etc), but does'nt want to sign up to a lengthy contract, and the paypal here system seems to fit the bill. I realise that it is dependent on having a compatible mobile phone (and signal obviously) but don't know if it will work on a 2g connection and if so how much data it uses to process a transaction, any help or advice would be very much appreiated.

Thank you, forgive me being a bit thick, but am i correct in thinking that there is 1000kb in a MB so that would work out at approximately 50 transactions per 1MB of data allowance?0

Yes you would get about 50 per MBIt's not just about the money0

There is also Payleven. Paypal at times are a law unto themselves. You only have to read Ebay boards about chargebacks. See here http://www.paypalsucks.com/0

There is also Kalixa Pro
They claim lower fees(1.99% going up to 2.25%, as opposed to PayPal's 2.75% to 3.40% +20p). Their terminals are both around £70.
Other options include iZettle and Payleven
Their Readers are around £50 and their fees are 2.75% and upwards on average. Though iZettle has a sliding scale based on volume.0 -
As someone who is about to be rejected by Payleven (and already by iZettle), be warned they are not interested it appears in small amounts.
I currently use Paypal for taking payments, however, I want to develop a small business (currently non-profit, but I want to move it forward).
iZettle don't want to know. I estimated I might be taking anything between £0 and £500 a month to start with.
Payleven are about to reject me too it appears. Nothing to do with credit worthiness and despite their press release saying that they are appealing to individuals and offer to set people up, they have absolutely no interest.
I'm involved in a small hobby group and as such, we buy stuff in bulk to save shipping and other considerable savings (recently, over 100 t-shirts for instance) - getting money back from people is a real PITA and despite folk having Paypal (who have twice blocked me for being a "trader"), it's easier if people collect and pay for stuff face-to-face.
I'd also like to do a small market stall selling home-made crafts with my wife next year and this would be absolutely perfect.
Anyone have any ideas? The smaller the monkey the more it looks like it would kill you at the first given opportunity.
