How areyou measuring your speeds - wired? WiFi? Which speed tester? If WiFi then search for threads here discussing WiFi optimisation (broadly trying different channels) and also check wired to see if the problem is the connection or the WiFi.
Is this your first broadband connection? If not how did the other one perform?
Post your router stats
All ADSL is delivered over the same copper from the exchange. Most is a resold BT productand apart from possible variations in congestion is going to perform broadly the same.
The reason to beware of BT isn't the speeds you're getting it's the fact that by chosing them you'll be paying a premium price for mediocre support. Have you contacted them yet for help? If so what did they suggest?0 -
Are you testing while connected to the test socket?

If you call BT and they send a technician and it turns out to be your wiring they'll charge you.0 -
Who was the previous supplier, and what speed were you getting then?No free lunch, and no free laptop0
