This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Dumpling - am so sorry to hear about this dreadful attitude, people are so cruel sometimes. Has your GP offered no help or support - referral to hospital dietician, books, information etc? If not, that is appalling and you should insist on some support x
FurryBeastOz - Hope Ozzie is ok today and getting over his experience x
In usual dash but will try and pop back later.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day.

Quick dash for me as I'm off to work finish at 6 tonight , it can't come quick enough
dumpling it is certainly not your fault, you should expect plenty of support from your practice nurse / dr and hopefully there is an informative day course you can go on x
I was up late last night waiting up for the DDs , one had been to York with her friends , the other was on a first date .anyway both back safe and sound but now I'm tired lol
Have a good day everyone xx0 -
Morning all
I had a call from doctors which has made me a bit wobbly. When I went a week or so ago about the cyst on my ovary, he had told me he would write to the hospital gynaecology unit and he gave me a blood test form and said to have it done before I go to the appointent.
They rang yesterday and said why haven't I had the test yet as they were waiting for the results so they could write to hospital. I told the woman that I thought I'd wait for the appointment date as I wasn't told test had to be done first, and she said to go ASAP. I looked at the form and it's marked as a C125 test, so ofc I googled that and it's a cancer test. I'm kicking myself that I've left it 10 days.
I'm 41 and my mum first got skin cancer at the age of 38, it was treated successfully but she kept having melanomas before finally dying of breast cancer at 68. When she was dying she said to me I might be at more risk of cancer because we look so alike. I don't actually think that she had any medical basis in assuming that put me at risk, but it did freak me out especially when 2 months after she died I was found to have polyps on my gallbladder. They turned out to be nothing thankfully, but this cyst has me nervous.
Another thing is that mum said her cancers always occurred at very stressful times of her life and she was convinced of a link. When she died our family had a massive fallout and horrible things were said. I haven't spoken to any of them and have cried about it nearly daily for 3 years. It's only the last couple of months that I've realised its better this way, but there's been a lot of stress.
Anyway I'm off for the blood test this morning.
Sorry for the meltdown. I've had so many in front of DH these last few years that I don't want to let him know I'm having another one.
I hope little Ozzie is on the mend, hugs to him and everyone else x0 -
dandycandy good luck ((( hugs )))0

Good morning everyone :j
dandy-candy I don't really know what to say except I will be thinking about you and saying a little prayer that your test will be ok. I have dropped contact with some of my family years ago due to a massive fallout as well but I can't do anything about it and I don't really want to either for the sake of my sanity (what's left of it) Have a huge westcountry hug xxxx
FBOz -hope poor Ozzie is feeling better today, what a horrible experience for the both of you, hugs and pats flying your way too xx
Well, my glucose meter and books arrived yesterday so I feel like a pincushion. My daughters are fascinated to watch but won't have a finger !!!!! themselves to see what it feels like :rotfl:. The books are very useful especially the one recommended by Butterfly Brain so thank you.
Hooray, it's raining so I'm getting my stew pan out. I've been really craving stew for ages but couldn't face it in the heat. Hubby was a bit glum going off to work this morning so assuming Tescos delivers everything I will text him later to tell him what's for dinner as it is his favourite to cheer him up.
Got my lovely friend Rose coming over this morning. She's been away for three weeks and I've really missed her so I'm really looking forward to having a cuppa and a catch-up. Well I'd better get a wiggle on and tidy up a bit before she comes.
Take care and warm hugs for anyone who would like one xx0 -

Have good days all xx0 -
Mornin' peeps
Yesterday was not a good day at all - my sister had that 'early morning phone call' from the hospital yesterday morning and from then on everything became a blur and the whole day went downhill .................. Mum passed in her sleep of a Cardiac Arrest. For some strange reason, on Saturday she was talking - with one of my sisters and my brother - about Tom Jones and 'The Green Green Grass of Home' ............... so we've decided that's GOT to be one of the songs for her funeral.
I've had a quick 'look-see' at yesterday's posts and send ((((hugs)))) for all who need them.
dumpling - ignore those who 'aim to blame' - they're not worth the upset. Believe me, I know how you will be feeling - I've had the 'it's self-inflicted look' from people - especially the first time I went to the Gym weighing in at 24stone. None of them know you / the person you are / what you've lived through / what life has thrown at you! Head Up, Girl - And Look Forward .................... from here on, your life will be what YOU are going to make it :j.
dandy-candy - thinking about you for your tests and wishing you well.
Not sure when I'll be around over the next couple of days - but will pop in when I can.
Take care all - luv Lilyplonk xx0 -
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Blue sky and sunshine. Watered plants and greenhouse.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, he is going to pick DS1 up on his way past in a while.
Dinner last night was pasta with carbonara sauce and the menfolk had breaded chicken with theirs. Tonight they will be having scampi and chips, I’ll be having mushroom omelette and salad.
Work was busy yesterday and had been horrendous on Friday and Saturday – was a bit late getting home because I was assisting a colleague as the books wouldn’t balance, but we got there in the end. I’m working at the other office today, then back to the other office tomorrow for my last working day before our hols.
Take care in the sun and warm weather, remember the sunscreen x
Keep safe and well x

Lily - so sorry to hear your sad news - big hugs to you and your family at this sad time xWEIGHTLOSS SINCE JUNE 2009 - 5 ST 2LB0 -
Good morning all,
Nothing much happening here but I wanted to send hugs to dandycandy hope the blood test goes OK and Lily I am so sorry your Mum has passed. I know how difficult the next few days will be, but try to pace yourself, not just physically but the stress you will experience will make you feel tired and low.
If you need any help or advice or just want to talk we are here. I know many of us have been through similar siutations.
Love and hugs to all who want one and very good wishes to all poor doggies who have been hurt.

Hi everyone,
Lilyplonk, so sorry to hear your news. My mum died in January in similar circumstances so I know how hard it is.
Dandy-candy, fingers crossed for a positive outcome.
Dumpling, I'm glad you're feeling more positive. I'm just reading "Clean" by Dr Alejandro Junger and feeling inspired to make a few changes.
We've got a new shower enclosure coming today - the 3rd attempt. The first had a bent bit, then they sent a part that was wrong, now they're replacing the entire part.
Hester, I forgot to say the fabric is on its way, I hope it's suitable.0
