EE broadband early termination

Some advice. been with EE since january paying for their most expensive product. However, i kept getting buffering, webpages taking seconds to load, and a very sluggish system. Complained a few times and their techs did their thing but the problem still persisted. Only recently found out that their settings of my broadband were set to asdl vs fibre optic in control panel. Told their techs and they set it up, now everything is working more reasonably. I have contacted them and told ee i want out, but they want me to pay a cancellation fee. The last few months since this service begun have been exasperating, paying for a sluggish service, and it turns out I was receiving an inferior service, is this a case of breach of contract?

any advice appreciated
Thanks

You could ask them for some sort of payment of the difference between their ADSL price and the fibre price you have been paying for however many months, but I can't see them letting you out of the contract for free. If it's working fine now though, why do you want out?

the broadband speed is slightly faster, but for the price i am paying, it seems overhyped. i would expect almost instanteneous connectivity, but cant notice that much of a difference. And they seem to have blocked a number of sites i need. Normally i would not split hairs, but I really expected better. And the fact that I couldnt enjoy the world cup because of the buffering, and access to websites still comes up with the resolving host nonsense, which means I dont get the connectivity i am paying for makes me suspect that this company is a red herring. But all options are still on the table. And it rankles when I tell them to admit that they didnt set up my account right and they are still claiming it is my problem kinda makes me wonder if this company really cares about its paying customers apart from extracting more market share, hence profit for their shareholders. Besides, if I couldnt pay them, they would set the bailifs on me in a nano second. So if I have legitimate concerns about their breach of contract, why cant the law work in my favour as a person at the receiving end of their incompetence?

What speed were you told you would get, and what speed are you actually getting now? This could be an angle for you depending on your answers.

Which sites have they blocked? Most of the big ISPs have had to block certain sites due to court orders. Not a lot they can do about it.

None of your issues are grounds for you to void the contract without penalty. If speed is less than estimated then you need to report it and give them the opportunity to improve it.
Sounds rather as if you have simply changed your mind and want out.
