Where's my sound gone?

    find the 3.5mm lead coming out of the PC and into your speakers, pull it out at the PC end, and plug in the headphones from a walkman etc.

    if you have no yellow question marks, and there is also a working sound device there, then it points to

    mixer settings, or muting - (right click on speaker icon, bottom right), check all faders are up

    lead problem

    or speakers bust.

    Does a music CD play or a midi file (search for *.mid)

    start, run, dxdiag, then do a sound test

    You say you have gone to sounds and audio in the control panel.Have you clicked advanced in this section and checked that none of the sound devicies are on mute

    Yes Rover2, all sound devices are at least mid-way, most nearer the top.

    Can you guess I've got my sound back, all the lovely little tunes, clicks and boings! Now my grandson will be happy when he plays his games.

    Hubby got on his knees with his torch and found that the lead was in the wrong socket. Wonder who put it there?????????:p :p (No, it wasn't me!)
