Apparently they always said you can settle your loan early just that for loans after the above date, they never said you can repay in part. If your loan started before the above date, chances are you weren't affected.

Anyway, it's a nice Xmas bonus

Got my letter, just under £400 HSBC are sending my way on 29/12

Got my letter through the post today. They are refunding me £838 on my loan. Details are 8k loan taken out pretty much 3 years ago to the day (December 2011) - 5 year repayment term.

Didn't know anything about this until I got the letter, and only just found this thread! It'll make xmas a whole lot happier. Money to be credited on the 29/12. Nice.

Hopefully there is a similar letter waiting for me. Annoyingly I'm away from my flat for a couple of weeks so won't know for a while.

Not quite sure whats going to happen with the payment though; hopefully they will forward it onto FD (as they are the same group anyway).

They'll send you a cheque no doubt. It's not for them to credit other accounts unless the letter they send ask where you would like it paid

DH and I were only talking about this the other day as he works in finance and wondered if we might be affected then today he got a letter through from HSBC - £151 being refunded direct to his account on 29/12! Thanks HSBC :beer:
I've had a loan with them for the past few years so here's hoping I get a letter too now!!

Had a surprise letter from HSBC today. Totally unexpected as I'd not heard anything about this issue until I went looking for it on the Internet today.

Took out a Loan in December 2011 for £8K in which HSBC actually swindled me on the Interest rate, offering me the loan at a higher interest rate due to an apparent 'Risk'... anyways...

Cue 3 years later, all payments made on time, and I'm now receiving £1,596 back on 29/12, for interest paid on the first two years because they forgot to tell me in the letters I could make part payments.

Karma, I feel.

Shame I'd not already received the letter for this third years worth of payments, or that would of been another £750+ ish returned!
