Can you tell what's wrong with the first, third and fourth, and why this might make Scots folk mistrustful of them?

    .....no, tell me....please!

The first and third don't exist (I was wrong about fourth)

Argyllshire is an anglicisation of Argyll.

No such place as Edinburghshire. Even if there were, they missed the capital letter off it.

And as I said, click on the links ... No properties !

Edinburghshire - used to exist - apparentlty according to Wiki - but its now known as midlothian...

I'm pondering whether the way houses are sold in Scotland would have an impact on something like housenetwork would work - I believe (but could be wrong) more leg work is done before teh sale.. and hte 'offers made' are binding..

So there's no reason for it to be on a current website, then...?

They would need to do some legwork to familiarise themselves with the Scottish system - and would need to form working relationships with Scottish solicitors, because every seller and buyer in a Scottish sale needs a solicitor, and in many areas, solicitors have taken over the estate agency side of things as well as doing the legal work.

They'd need to establish an office in Scotland - I think their most northerly office is in Manchester - would you send someone on a drive from Manchester to (say) Aberdeen to sign up one property?

Offers are more formalised than in E&W, and buyers don't tend to make frivolous offers - once they put it in writing, they should be serious about buying.

I signed up with housenetwork then cancelled within about 48 hrs.

I am confident it was the right thing to do.

They did say they are really only just branching into scotland and have only sold a few properties there, none on at the minute.

Maybe in a few years from now they might be up and running here but not yet.

I had my flat on the market for 4 months with housenetwork at the end of last year and found them to be really good. I got a Home Report done through Shepherd and a lawyer in Glasgow plenty of viewer's they use a company in Glasgow to take photo's etc. The sale of the flat went through very quick. I did not find a problem they contacted you on a regular basis by phone and email so plenty of communication would definately recommend them as I saved a lot of money instead of a Estate Agent.

I decided against it as it would be potential buyers in Glasgow calling up someone who has no idea about Glasgow and the local area, and obviously everyone you would speak to would be English (that would annoy me as a buyer as I would find that really weird)

I decided to go with an online agent, based in Glasgow, who were cheaper too!!

House has been on rightmove for 12 days now, 4 viewings, one coming back for second viewing so we will see.....
