Morning Cath
Yes it's really only been the last couple of months where I have noticed that each month makes it a difference to the end date (rather than every few months). I have reached the tipping point and that I now pay more off in capitial than interest :j
Regarding the interest rate for after your fix runs out, I just leave mine the same as now. I know you could argue that I should use the SVR but as it's higher and I'm certainly not going to let it revert to that level (all being well!) I don't see the point. The aim is to have a lower rate again come next year's remortgage and then I can adjust it further still.
I definitely need to 'see' something happening as I only make relatively modest OP's - and the SS helps0 -
Just been working through some figures... when I took the mortgage out.. the daily interest rate was £19.31  As of yesterday, this is down to £8.67 so moving in the right direction at least
In other money news:
I've transferred over the monthly reward from the bank and my standard OP has also gone over although will have to wait until Tuesday for it to show up (only downside to bank holidays)
I was aiming for a NSD/weekend but I've just reserved some new storage units at a well known DIY place which has a 15% off weekendI've been pondering them for a while as needed something under the stairs.. and thought why not. Will give me something to do over the BH as they need to be put together  I haven't totally abandoned frugality though as I will be using Nect@r points to pay for 2/3 of the cost
Now just have to find the motivaton to get dressed and leave the house at some stage :rotfl:0 -
Well I did make it out the house
Units collected and constructed and proudly in place. I'm feeling pretty pleased and it was worth the effort

The reduction in your daily interest is amazing - it must be very a very satisfying achievement.
Well done in putting up your storage units....I'm hopeless at that sort of thingEarly retired - 18th December 2014
If your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough0 -
I'm not the best either but have to make the best of it as no-one else to do it! I have the blisters to prove it :cool:0

Ooh I wonder if you went to the same well known DIY store that I did - my paint was on offer too and I paid for it using vouchers of course - we're certainly living the frugalista lifestyle
I love my mortgage spreadsheet - it definitely keeps me focussed and motivated when I can see what a difference overpaying makes.
Enjoy the rest of your bank holiday weekend

Morning everyone
Thanks for stopping by MG
Although it's been a short working week, it's been a busy one for me. I had a couple of days away attending a seminar and workshop and the extra travelling always makes me feel weary. It was useful though and for the most part enjoyable so not too bad
Little to report on the money front except for a massive £1.10 OP :rotfl: which was some cashback received and I also got a £15 Am@zon certificate from surveys
It seems a long time til payday.....I will have to watch the spending (serves me right for going a bit mad when I was away a couple of weeks ago) but I'm sure it will be ok
No major plans this weekend. Just some housework and a couple of errands and plenty of relaxation
Have a great time whatever you are up to

Have a nice relaxing weekend BW. A change to the work routine can be fine, but there's no denying that it can leave you feeling a bit drained.0

Goodness today seems to be whizzing past
I've been semi good today and done half the jobs I had set out for myself. Figured the rest can keep til tomorrow. Sensibly as the weather held, I got the garden work done - so even if it's wet tomorrow, it won't matter to me
Hi Mr E - I'm definitely working on the relaxation part now0
